This has been bothering me lately; the game starts up just fine, but whenever I try to start a new game or load an old one, the game just crashes. No error popup, no warning, just a black screen for 3 seconds then I'm back to my desktop. I tried "reinstalling" it (deleting the game folder then unpacking the zip file again), but to no avail. The only time it starts working properly again is when I delete the TOME folder in my user folder, but that not only deletes my save games, but *all* my unlocked birth options.
I found this stderr file in the game folder it self, and here's all it says
PANIC: unprotected error in call to Lua API (Unable to initialize: attempt to call a string value)
Anyone willing to point me in the right direction? I'm stumped. =/

Re: TOME Crashing
Fixed it! Turns out I just had to copy and paste back my online profile folder.

I'm having a similar problem. Ubuntu linux 64-bit here.
seems to crop up most frequently when my wifi gets unstable.
