Escort fleeing from enemy is a good idea - but please give them a little more brain!
I just had an escort who ran 6 times through the same poison vines and died. All enemys were at least 5 fields away from him.

Some escort really have a strange behavior.
I got an escort that just refused to move. No ennemy in view, not apparent problem and the portal was 10 tiles away. Fortunately I was an AB and I could teleport him on the portal. Otherwise he would probably be still waiting...
