[b34] Online profile disabled (switching to offline profile)

"Online profile disabled (switching to offline profile) due to no online profile active."

That's the message I get every time I load a character, despite being initially signed in at the boot module. Rarely I'm able to chat and link items, but for the most part online is completely gone. The solution in another thread, not renaming the directory, did not work for me. If I log into a character, then log back out, the game won't let me log into my profile, but will do it itself if I leave it long enough (it seems).

I did add an item to the module, but I was having this problem even before messing with the module, so I don't think that's the problem. For future reference, would modifying the module prevent the engine from logging in?

I'm running Windows 7, 32bit on a laptop.
I already made an exception for tome4 at my firewall.

I get this problem regularly without modifying anything.

The best way to avoid it that I have found is to wait at the login screen for a few mins before trying to make a new character or load a saved game. If I try to go straight to new/load the problem you describe always happens, if I wait a few minutes, it usually doesn't.

Probably the biggest annoyance that comes from it is if I don't notice and play a saved game for a bit logged off, then it's impossible to continue that game online, the game just locks up when loading the save if I am logged in.

The character has to be played offline for good if you don't notice? Yikes, pretty vicious bug.

I'm still getting this problem in beta 38. It started after I used my rod of recall to leave the Trollmire, which caused another glitch where a day would pass every second on the world map in real time. I still had some control over the game in that I could open my inventory and character screens, but movement was impossible. This character got the "online profile disabled" message as soon as he returned to the world map after recalling. I deleted the character shortly afterwards but every subsequent character has had the "online profile disabled" issue. I cannot make a new character or load an old one without getting this message.

Me too in b38. I go to main menu, log off, shut down, start up, log on, and then it works again
