b38 Apprentice Quest

I started the apprentice mage quest as an archmage. My first trip back I got the message that I had found a powerful object. When I looked on the inventory to give it to him, the only thing listed was the Dark Star which I did not give to him. Instead I equipped it. Now he won't take anything from me. All I get is the I have to leave message.

From the b38 change log -

"Mage apprentice quest changed, he wont collect rings/.. anymore, he just needs one arcane powered artifact"

I think the quest log still has the old rings/jewelry/staff text however.

Yes, log says collect 10 items.

I want to add that the open quest doesn't disappear if you get antimagic and then talk to the apprentice.
