[b37] UI and Inventory annoyances

#1 Post by gosling »

Equipment ability on hot bar –
If you have an ability on the hot bar granted through equipment, it should be grayed out if that piece is unequipped, so that you don’t inadvertently press the button and lose a turn due to switching.

UI – Info box closing
After using Orb of Scrying and identifying an artifact, you cannot click the upper right corner of the info box to close it, as you can with other windows. You must click the dialog option that says “Thank you, Elisa.” This is inconsistent with other behavior and unnecessarily takes up player time.

UI – Message/Chat log
1. Resizing the game window wipes out the Game log and Message log.
2. Some effects do not show up in the log, such as the +blind and +confused status effects on monsters if you hit them with a weapon which has a % chance to produce those effects. This may be intentional to avoid cluttering the log, but there are cases when one wants to accurately figure out what happened during an attack and this makes it difficult. Also, for something like the Star+Moon set bonus, if it’s difficult to see the bonus effects, then it doesn’t feel like it’s happening very often, which makes it feel less powerful, psychologically.
UI – Summons, Parties and Loss of Screen Focus
You should be able to either click, double-click or right click on the Party Member icons on the middle-left of the screen to center the screen view on the selected member.
Mousing over the party member icon for a summoned creature shows Life, Level and type (in this case, Summon), but it should also show # of turns left before it despawns.

Inventory Management –
If, while you have the transmogrifying chest, you leave a zone with an unidentified artifact, you cannot identify it during the “if you don’t move it now, you’ll lose it” screen. If you try to identify it, you transition to the next zone and never find out what the artifact was. To get around this you need to move it to your inventory first, then identify it later.

Infinite Dungeon –
Character started with Orb of Scrying and Orb of Knowledge (maybe wrong name). These items were redundant in ability except that Knowledge doesn’t seem to work.

Thanks, I'm enjoying the game immensely.
