[b34] Continuity Error

#1 Post by Aussiemon »

After Dreadfell you receive a quest to go investigate reports of Orcs in Relkor. The quest log says that even the Dwarves haven't been there in years, but if you're a Dwarf you DID go there and know there were Orcs. Perhaps this should be addressed with special dialogue for Dwarves?

In addition, the elder mentions that there haven't been Orcs in many years, yet they are in many of the dungeons.

Perhaps the Elder should say that there haven't been orcs out in force in many years -- the key part is that nobody has managed to unite them, after all.

The dwarves have never been forthcoming about their problems in any case. The orcs would not leave Reknor until they had a force ready to go raid as they did when they bopped you over the head and stole your staff.
Having satellite internet is a lot like relying on the processes described in those RFC's for your internet. Except, instead of needing to worry about statues interrupting your connection, this time you worry about the weather. I have satellite internet. Fun, no?

I think part of what Aussiemon is saying is that it's entirely possible to encounter orcs in many other early-game dungeons in the West, long before the Elder tells you that Orcs haven't been seen in the west in years. This is slightly awkward.

(Not too awkward, since you can just say that orcish scouts have started to appear everywhere right as the game begins. But it's a bit weird to have the Elder making such a big deal about orcs when you've been encountering random ones all over the place.)

The dwarven lore specifically states that they are keeping the orcish presence a secret.

The racial lore for orcs states that there haven't been reliable reports of orc sightings since the Age of Pyre, with only mad hermits and braggart adventurers suggesting they have seen the foul fiends. Mind you, their presence could perhaps be toned down a bit in the West.
