[b31] Farportal with no stairs

#1 Post by lukep »

Went into a farportal with my lvl 24 Yeek Summoner (slimy tunnel tiles, Doomed unlock dungeon layout) and there were no stairs on level 1 (also no boss). Mapped the entire level, and dug out a bunch to check if it was hiding in a wall.

I also had this happen in a slime-themed farportal zone (Octopus layout). I used the Burning Star to map the entire level. No stairs, no boss.

Just adding some extra confirmation, this has happened to me multiple times now, always with the slime levels. With how often recalling wrecks the portal, hitting these slime levels make for some rather tedious savescumming.

Can't you use the debug console to teleport out? I mean, if the save scumming is getting to tedious.

I think this is already fixed in the SVN.

Most likely... probably even possible to fix the thing via quest buggering...

... but I'd have to enable debug mode again, and I'm mostly lazy. Takes less effort to kill the process than it does to hunt down the place for the debug file, edit it appropriately, start tome, fix problem, close tome, reopen and re-edit/rename the debug file appropriately, restart tome, etc, etc, so forth, so forth. Effort

Hehe.. generally I'd agree but I read your other thread Frumple. Ten save scums later I'd just enable cheat mode ;)

Heh, part of it is you're just unlucky, Frumple. This happened to me once, and I successfully used the RoR without breaking the farportal my very first time. By the way, in ten attempts, there's about a 35% chance of the farportal breaking every time.

That's a pretty damned high chance of it breaking.

This happened to me too in a Maze looking far portal.
(Not sure what you guys mean with slime)

Entire lvl 1 mapped and lit up with the Summertide vial.
No portal, no boss, no staircase.
No idea.

I tried to Recall but I get a very scary message that recalling might break the whole farportal engine.
Any suggestion?

The level is green and gelatinous-looking, if that makes any sense. I've gotten them a couple times. Your options are either to recall and risk breaking the farportal, or enable cheat mode and debug yourself out:
