[b30] Archmage quest

#1 Post by Antvg »

Downloaded b30 and decided to start brand new archmage. But after accepting starting quest and being teleported to location, screen turns black and i can't see anything. Music plays, if i hover mouse over something it will show tooltips for a second and then hide it. Tried 3 characters, and always the same problem.

I had the same issue in b29. I'll check if it's still an issue for me in b30.

This happened to me during the second Temporal Rift area (Ben Cruthdar's area) in Daikara. Screen went black like that, with the music still going. It was always immediately preceded by the sound effect of some temporal enemy using some talent.

Ah that's interresting, anything else you can correlate it with ? some talent usable in the log ?

Created 2 characters like that and checked log for them.

Thirst time the log stopped like that:

I have a similar problem in the newest version under Windows XP *only* when using the Shockbolt 16 x 16 tileset. The graphics appear during the archmage conversation, but immediately vanish once the Abashed Expanse map loads, except for the starry background. I have not yet experienced this issue using other tilesets/tile sizes.

Making a different character so I can see the menus again and then changing the tileset back to any other default size fixes the problem for me.

Not sure if it's relevant but I noticed a bunch of these in the log:

Code: Select all

According to my log, the last thing that happened was a telugoroth had cast Turn back the Clock on me. Then it all went black.

There was this in the log:
telugoroth 2251 dumb ai talents can use Turn Back the Clock T_TURN_BACK_THE_CLOCK
dumb ai uses T_TURN_BACK_THE_CLOCK
[LOG] Telugoroth casts Turn Back the Clock.
USING table: 0x0a8672a0 Turn Back the Clock
[SPELL CRIT %] 1
Adding entity 2458 after 2251
[SPELL CRIT %] 1
Adding entity 2459 after 2251

Then, it was all just user chat stuff and notes about server latency (Server latency 151. Server latency 149. Server latency 150. - stuff like that). Dunno if it was caused by Turn back the Clock adding some entities, or if it was related to the server latency.
