Frozen Main Map/Working mini-map

#1 Post by bio_hazard »

I've had this affect both Arena mode and normal mode- after a character dies, and I start a new character without quitting the T-engine, sometimes the main map is frozen (does not update with key-presses), while the game itself seems to otherwise work normally-- mini-map shows my char running around and bumping into things, talents work normally, etc. (b28, OSX)

One more observation about this- I can look at the mini-map to see where my character, monsters, or items are, then place my cursor over the main map and get appropriate text to pop up. In other words, the map seems to know what should be there, but does not visually update (at all).

What level are you on? Have you tried messing with some of the video settings like framebuffers and shaders? Do you have the latest drivers for your graphics card?

I most recently had this in the Arena, but I've also had it in the trollmire and the beginning archmage quest (that I remember). It isn't every time. I haven't messed with any video settings. I'm on a 15" MBP/ 2.5ghz/ 4gb ram/ GeForce 8600M GT (512mb I think). I'll try your suggestions next time this pops up. fwiw the borg on the initial menu screen is always super fast, and I've never really noticed any other persistent glitches or problems with the display or animations (except there are sometimes some minor graphical artifacts in the lower right of the screen where the hotkey information is displayed- looks kind of like a line of dark audio equalizers that changes with every step).

At a guess I'd say your drivers may not be up to date. Try downloading the very latest from your card-maker (this will be good for other modern games too).

or for laptops made 3+ years ago. I got this problem too, but I generally avoid this problem by deciding to play something else for a bit after dying.
Having satellite internet is a lot like relying on the processes described in those RFC's for your internet. Except, instead of needing to worry about statues interrupting your connection, this time you worry about the weather. I have satellite internet. Fun, no?
