b25 - Escort is confused.

This alchemist escort in the Scintillating Caves is confused. The path to his portal is clear, but he just hangs out in that same spot next to the wall. When I try standing in the spot, he just walks around within 1 space of me waiting for me to move out of the way so he can lean against that specific spot next to the wall again. He doesn't seem to comprehend that he needs to walk to his destination, instead of patiently waiting there for the wall to disappear.

I had a similar problem with a sunpa in trollmire. A combination of telling him to "wait a few moves" and then swapping places with him to move him around finally got him out of the pocket he was in and he made his way to the portal.

I tried that, but it didn't work. He just kept going back to the exact same spot by the wall. Since I didn't have a digger at the time I couldn't carve a way through for him, so I had to give up on him.

Could try waiting a few (hundred or thousand) turns with the escort out of LOS (like, with you at the other side of the level from it and the portal). This happened a lot in older betas but I aint seen it happen yet in b25 for me. Sometimes it just clears up and completes for no reason at all. Maybe the escort "zoned in" on some crystal or something on the other side of the level... who knows.

Next time this happens plsea send me the savefile so I can check out what the stupid escort is doing :=)

There will be NPCs on the other side of the wall or something that is making him go over there.

If you can't get him round the corner, go find whatever it is and kill it. That should free him up.

I've seen this behaviour before... check to see if the Escort is targetting an enemy you can't see. Sometimes they do that across walls.

By the way, a new escort option 'Run for the Portal!', where they'd just ignore enemies and take the shortest route could be handy.
