The Online Profile Problem of 20b - Anyone?

#1 Post by Sir Jaded »

Do we have any sure-fire solutions to this yet?
The previous post regarding this makes my head swim!

I thinking of going all Zen and cranking another profile - it will make me look hardcore because the mistakes I have made in previous Betas will be lost in time...

And guess who's Awesome?
You're Awesome.

FIrstly you can check the previous post labeled "Online Profile" to get the gist of what I'm asking. Even Darkgod had something to say...(looks expectantly at sky-)

Basically the problem is you open the game, login your profile, load your game, and when the save game comes up the first message you see is:
"Profile disabled (Switching to Development Profile) due to no Online Profile Active."
This is despite the fact that you can initially Login just fine.
Strangely enough the unlocks and achievements are still uploaded, but character dumping to the homepage is bust.

What you are describing seems like a bug. To get it fixed you would need to post to the Bugs section.

I have moved this to that section and hopefully one of the devs will pick this up.

Jon.

I have this problem on my MacIntosh. The program does successfully log into the profile from the main menu, the profile is displayed correctly at the bottom right of the menu screen, unlocks are downloaded correctly. But when I start a character, I immediately get the message that the profile has been disabled because no online profile was found, and no character info is sent to the vault.

This is not the same bug as in the other thread, which can be solved by turning the dev profile into the default profile. I had that on my Windows machine, and renaming the profiles solved the issue there. On the MacIntosh, I don't even see a dev profile that I could rename, so it must be something else.

Correction to the above post: It _was_ a profile-based problem on the Mac as well, apparently I didn't look at the right place for the profile at first. I deleted both the "dev" and the "default" profile on the Mac, and replaced them with the working "default" profile from my Windows machine. This solved the issue for me.

I got the same issue as described by others with 20b, did a clean install of b21 and now I'm not able to log on to my online profile at all, the l/p is accepted just fine logging to the web page though. Any ideas? :/
"A very wise choice, sir, if I may say so. Very good." it said. "I'll just nip off and shoot myself."

I had no problems with the online profile on 20b but am also completely unable to login with 21. If I try to create a profile the game locks up entirely. I can still login to the website just fine.

I have made a list of the errors coming up regarding b21 and burst a new thread.
Though I suspect my cheap and nasty wireless broadband (joggling between three different networks no less) I find a little contiguity here.
I am currently playing Offline and have No Probs (But miss Terribly the Server chat - the voices in my head now play my favourite game! :D )

I shall endure.
The game is good enough for me to do so.
And this from a Knight in Tarnished Armour who previously couldn't commit to Ringworm let alone a Beta...

The game is unfortunately not liking my profile, ie not letting me log in. No matter what I attempt, it says that my log in information is not correct [and... unless I used some very foreign password that I would never use otherwise, I don't think it's mis-type on my end.]

This is beta21

Log in is Final Master
Final Master's Character Guides
Final Master's Guide to the Arena
Edge: Final Master... official Tome 4 (thread) necromancer.

Are you playing the no music version? Some people in this situation have found the game works when they use the music version. Odd, I know, but I believe DG will have it sorted for next beta.

Grab the Music version, huh?
To be honest I didn't know there was one - just grabbed the no music version which had music anyways...
I'll give the Magic School try.

Thanks again all for the feedback.

Apparently the problem for me was the ip of the new server. I finally noticed it was on a block list as a host for lots of spammers and malwares. Looking into it, the list provider decided it was easier to block the whole thing and let people approve individual sites from that host. First time it's ever come up for me. It might be helpful if there was a different message for being unable to connect entirely. "Login Failed" had me endlessly trying to figure out how I was messing up my username and / or password.
