Another hang at startup

#1 Post by Freddybear »

My system is Win7x64, Intel q6600 processor, 4G RAM, NVIDIA 8800GTX video card.

I started ToME4 and the background animation was in color. Went ahead and chose "Load Game" from the start menu, and then selected Alf my dwarf fighter. The game loaded and displayed Alf standing in Last Hope as he was when I saved and exited before. As soon as I tried to move, it hung up with the screen flickering very fast and the flashing back and forth about one-half of a tile width (yeah, weird). Input locked, not responding to keypresses after the first, finally killed the process with Task Manager.

stdout.txt is attached. stderr.txt was created but empty as before. The common thread in a lot of these crashes is the color background animation on the startup menu screen.

I now suspect that these crash bugs were caused by my video driver configuration. I deleted the NVIDIA driver configuration and reinstalled the default Win7 NVIDIA drivers and now it's working OK (for now). Go figure.
