using addons with unbuntu 18.04.1

#1 Post by bta »

how do I move downloaded addons to /snap/talesofmajeyal/29/game/addons when I do not have permission to read/write/execute in that folder? What I really want is temporary sudo access in graphical file manager (easy for me to use). I am the owner of the computer but do not have a root user account setup. I tried to setup a root account using sudo passwd root.

Does

sudo bash -l

which asks for you own password then gives you a root prompt work?

https://te4.org/wiki/Compiling looks promising. I had to reinstall Linux, have not tried this yet.

Solution: I switched from Ubuntu to Linux Mint. I extracted the game into documents and it installed in hidden folder in my home folder.

I created a character with a name impossible for any other file or folder to have the same name. Then, I immediately exited to main menu saving the character file so I could search for it on my hard drive using Terminal: find =iname animpossiblename. "animpossiblename was the name of the character I made. That is how I found ToME was installed in a hidden folder in my home folder and I revealed hidden files using the CRTL+H keyboard command,

A little digging around and I found the three (3) addons that come with the game. I downloaded the additional addons I wanted and put them in that addon folder.

It was that easy.
