A returned player questions.

Hello. I got bored this weekend and I remembered a great game I played. So I decided to play it again

Since 4 years passed, I forgot most of the game and will be grateful if anyone responds my curiosity.


1. I played 1.0.4 about 4 years ago and I wonder if the save still compatiable. If so, can I get the previous save from online? (I think I lost my save files.)

2. Damn how did you unlock mind slayer? I'm playing yeek solipsist and he dies 3 turn after I find him.

-> When I die in hafling complex and then resurrect to another location, I'm automatically sent to Maj'Eayl. So I think If I suicide then return to there high leveled, it will be easy. Is it viable?

3. I heard there are some addons that enables a player to choose escorts as they please. Is it considered as some kind of cheat? I understand randomness is part of the essence of this game but some build really needs a specific escort.

4. I'm playing this with steam. When I check highscores, then 'lua error'. Is it normal with steam version?

5. I see all the unlocks continue to steam. Can I get steam achivements which I completed before?

6. When I look up for character builds, there are chaos and brutal difficulty in difficulty tab. Are the exist?

3. up to you. some addons assist the game mechanics and some give you an advantage, like the choose escort one. so, most of us would see it not so much as cheating, but the win doesn't mean as much

Mindslayer is easiest with a Yeek Necromancer with 5/5 blurred morality, some points in freeze and 5/5 phase door. You'll start out by phase dooring the wayist to behind you to get them to safety and then focus on killing Subject Z.

Lua error when you check high scores is a known issue and DG (I think) has already fixed it for 1.5.6.

This isn't a spoiler (I think) what I did was to take whatever class, and when I got to the dungeon where you need to unlock it, I recalled out without moving, so never activated what's necessary. Did some level 1 dungeons to level up then came back. Didn't see any reason to try for the unlock under leveled for the area.

Thx for giving me advice. These are what I learned recently. Some are self-explanatory.

- ToME itself doesn't offer you cloud save. Steam does, although, it's not very realiable. Using steam cloud save, world map terrain changed. It seems it doesn't save everything.

- I unlocked mindslayer with yeek solipsist. I killed myself at the start of the dungeon. I revived in Maj'eyal and I went to rescue wayist when lv30+. However, I think I could've just used rod of returning.(?)

- You can transfer all your achvements to steam.(seems vice versa) I bought 2 DLCs here and I activated it on steam too.(I wanted to give DG more money)

- It seems there are lots of addons that ease the dfficulty of the game. You still can get achivements with non-official addons but your character can't be seen in the character vaults if the searcher checks 'only offical addons'. And I believe difficulties like brutal are only for non-offical addons.
