Minor spoilers alert*
I faced the two bosses in the main campaign once and it was a massive slaughter, I got destroyed and barely damaged them. On normal. Not sure how much failing to stop them from charging the staff contributed to that.
So when my Sawbutcher went down there to face the final boss in EoR (on nightmare difficulty) I was pretty scared. And I utterly annihilated them. It was so easy I was disappointed. I was thinking he would bring the old god back to life and I'd have to fight them too. Now that would be an epic finale.
So, fellow tome players, what are your thoughts if you've fought both? If the two mages fought the priest, who would win?
I know EoR classes are more powerful than the others, but still.

Most likely the EoR Final Boss would lose unless he had God Support I would think. That's the main thing - the EoR Final Boss isn't that strong, but the situation you encounter him in makes him extremely difficult.
Its amazing what the mind can come up with, but it shows talent to make something of it. - Davion Fuxa

The AoA final bosses are harder but the EoR final boss is no joke, he has Spine of the World and lots of burst damage so it's hard to survive without perma Heroism/Pain Suppression. He also gets three lives so sustainability is a must. In AoA some builds can kill Elandar in under 15 turns, then close the portals and take their time with Argoniel, but there is no equivalent strategy in EoR.

Hmmm, my Gunslinger and Psyshot may get a better challenge when they go down there. But my Sawbutcher had to work to keep next to him as he kited around, so I'd think being able to shoot him from range 10 would make it even easier. They just have to recover fast from the big 1,000+ damage nuke.

Were you fighting the AoA bosses as a Sawbutcher too? As maybe you were just on a weaker class.

No, I haven't tried the EoR classes in the normal campaign yet.Razakai wrote:Were you fighting the AoA bosses as a Sawbutcher too? As maybe you were just on a weaker class.
My Ghoul Doombringer on normal had great Tier 5 equipment, uniques and randarts, tons of HPs, good resists and immunities, was destroying everything else in the game with ease. But even with 4 lives left he was completely outmatched vs the AoA bosses. They hit so hard and got me with so many status effects I could not keep up with healing and status removal. I even used Spellhunt Remnants multiple times to remove some of their sustains. Was my first character to get that far and challenge them. Knowing what I do now, I would have picked Cauterize/Spine Of The World for prodigies instead. And gotten the 4 turn unresistable stun skill.
Now I'm scared for my other characters approaching level 50 who will have to face them. I think the halfling sling archer has a decent chance against them. Also the cornac oozemancer.

In my opinion Slumbering Caverns are 10 times more difficult then final fight. Final fight was scary and took long but i was never seriously threathened for the whole fight. But I was completely wrecked 3-4 times on the way through Slumbering Caverns. I was a doombringer on insane btw.

Ah I haven't tried insane yet. I could see how that would get out of control with extra uniques and rares all over the place. This was my first win on anything. As much as I love the Doombringer class, I'd have to say that Sawbutcher with the right tier 5 unique weapons is orders of magnitude stronger. With PES and Flexible Combat prodigies I was doing 3 to 7k bump attacks, not counting the multiple chain lightning spells from Stormcutter or extra attacks from Dethsawz. I'm afraid that every class is going to feel weak after playing him.posetcay wrote:In my opinion Slumbering Caverns are 10 times more difficult then final fight. Final fight it seems like you just have to dodge his big dark damage nuke or mitigate it and have a way to re-engage multiple times as he kites you around. Any class that relies on inflicting negative status effects to kill things is f***ed, but if you do high damage and have some HP recovery you're fine.
