Is there a way to retrieve a character online?

#1 Post by Ryzel »

Hey guys, love this game! Unfortunately my computer crashed and I lost my save files =( Is there any way I can retrieve a save file online? Is that what the APIs are for?

Thanks!

Nope, characters are stored locally. With the exception of something like Steam cloud saves.

I wondered about this. Im planning to get a new computer soon and I want to continue with all my characters on it. I figured since I was playing on steam and it saved to cloud I could just have it all switched over no hassle. Is there a process to do it, or just copying the save files and pasting them in the folders on new comp when Tome is installed there too?

If you have cloud saves enabled then you should be able to just switch over fine. However I really, REALLY suggest you don't use steam cloud saves for ToME. They were disabled by default as of 1.3 because of their tendency to super-mangle saves on occasion.

You can manually migrate them over (or set up drop box type things) though; all the userdata (settings, saves, etc) are in C:\Users\%username%\T-Engine\4.0\ with the saves themselves then being in tome\save.
