save file gone!?

Please tell me this is not true: the game just updated without asking for my permission (on steam), and I can no longer see my save file. I was on High Peak 8, having reached High Peak for the first time! Can I recover/repair the save?

I'll ask this here as it's related...

So I carried over my save file from 1.2.5 over to 1.3.0, but now it seems that I can't level up anything: http://imgur.com/M6uZFHo
As the LUA error says, something about sustain skills... my sustained skills now no longer work either, but can't be turned off. (http://imgur.com/d2Bmqgo)

Am I SOL, can I roll my save file back to 1.2.5, or can I edit the file in such a way to continue playing?
