Slime Splitting

#1 Post by Red »

How does slime splitting work? Especially on Clear Brittle Oozes. I notice that they multiply absolutely out of control. I'm currently running a Sun Paladin with Elemtnal Fury equipped and a large amount of area effect damage (Ghoul's Retch, a second Retch from equipment, a similar ability of ice, etc.) and the instant I use these with a Brittle Ooze around, they multiply to over a dozen.

It's not a threat, but I'm just rather curious about how exactly the mechanics work.
I'm not crying. I'm offering a sacrifice to DarkGod in hopes he'll show favor to me.

It hasn't worked yet.

Splitting enemies have an X% chance to split when hit for more than Y% of their maximum life. Every split halves the X% chance, rounding up. Brittle clear oozes have a 50% chance to split when hit for more than 1% of their max life.

The best strategy is to hit the first ooze with your strongest single hit, since split oozes share remaining life.
Addons: Arcane Blade Tweaks, Fallen Race, Monk Class, Weapons Pack
Currently working on Elementals. It's a big project, so any help would be appreciated. :)

Since I use long lasting AoE, it doesn't actually bother me a ton. It's honestly kinda funny, activating Irresitible Sun and seeing the screen suddenly explode with ooze.

Thanks for the info, Grayswandir.

It's even funnier with things like Destabilize, Arcane Vortex, Corrosive Worm or such. Turns oozes into time-ticking bombs, and can trigger truly massive chain reactions if done right.

Ah dammit. I should've done Sludgenest before trying to take on Linaniil after Atamathon. That way, I could've used Bathe in Light to make INFINITE OOZES!

No idea why I should, but I got this game for the challenge. No sense making it any easier on myself when it only took 130+ hours to actually get my first win. :P
