How exactly does crit reduction work?

How exactly does crit reduction work?
Let's say I have 120% crit chance on my character sheet and the enemy has 20% crit reduction. When I whack this enemy, what are the odds I get a crit? min(120%, 100%) - 20% = 80%? min(120%, 100%) * (100% - 80%) = 80%? 120% - 20% = 100? 120% * (100%-20%) = 96%?

Re: How exactly does crit reduction work?
I think crit reduction concerns damage, not chance. The chance will remain identical, but it your attack crits, it will deal an extra damage of crit_mult - 20%
Re: How exactly does crit reduction work?
I actually thought exact thing, and some things do that. Indiscernible Anatomy, for instance, is crit damage reduction.
However, Armor Training can reduce enemies crit chance. I just don't know how exactly it scales.

I'm not crying. I'm offering a sacrifice to DarkGod in hopes he'll show favor to me.
It hasn't worked yet.

Re: How exactly does crit reduction work?
"Crit reduction reduces the CHANCE an opponent has of landing a critical strike" - straight from the character sheet.

Re: How exactly does crit reduction work?
There are two types of crit reduction.
combat_crit_reduction - Listed as Crit. Reduction in the character sheed
Provided by Armour Training and gear with "Reduces opponents crit chance"
A direct reduction of melee attackers' critical chance. They have 50% crit chance, you have 20% crit reduction, their crit chance is reduced to 30%. This is only checked against melee attacks as far as I'm aware but can prevent effects that trigger on critical hits (such as crippling weapons.)
ignore_direct_crits - Listed as Crit. Shrug Off in the character sheet
Provided by Dexterity, Indiscernible Anatomy, Ice Core, Juggernaut, some upcoming chronomancy talents, and equipment with "Reduces incoming crit damage"
A percentage chance to reduce a critical hit to normal damage. Works on any type of damage, but doesn't prevent on-crit effects from triggering. When this triggers "(target) shrugs off the critical damage!" appears in the combat log

Re: How exactly does crit reduction work?
The confusion stems from the fact that some of the things that actually give Crit Shrug Off just outright lie about what they do in their talent description. Yeah, it's a problem.
Re: How exactly does crit reduction work?
Just found this thread via search. I made a similar thread recently (by edge's time standards apparently recently was june of last year).
Maybe I should go through and change some talent descriptions today but if I don't get around to it hopefully this will help clear things up.
