Ye, I would imagine it still works on world map, just like speed boosting stuff works.
Stronk is a potent combatant with a terrifying appearance.

Any modifications to speed still apply on the main map, including sustains. If you have trouble with Zigur or Orc patrols, make sure you turn off Stone Vines before exiting to the world map.
In addition, if you have the Feathersteel Amulet or any other item that gives a boost to move speed, this can be invaluable to escaping patrols of any sort.
