I purchased this on Steam a couple days ago after having played and highly enjoyed the free version a few months ago. (Big props to Felicia Day for plugging your game on Facebook. It's how I came across it!)
Because I hadn't become a donor previous to my Steam purchase I had not created an account on te4.org, so I created an account using the in-game 'Login with Steam' option. Everything was hunky-dory... until my first achievement popped up and my real name, which happens to be my steam account name, was broadcast in chat instead of my Steam profile name which is what gets broadcast in every other Steam related thing I do.
Is there any way to change this to display my Steam profile name instead of my account name? Or unlink it from Steam so that I can just create an account with an account name of my choosing on te4.org? As it stands, I'm not willing to play while logged in because of this, and I would really like to.

Alright, I managed to figure out a solution. It requires a second e-mail address. You can choose to either use this new e-mail as your main one for the new account or only use it as a temporary measure as part of the process of moving the e-mail from the old account to the new account.
1. Log in with Steam on te4.org
2. Change your e-mail address to the temporary one if you are only using it for this process and want to use the current one on your new account. If using the second e-mail as your permanent one on the new account then you can leave the e-mail address for this account as is.
3. Delete all cookies for te4.org. In Chrome this is easily done by clicking the page icon to the left of the url in the address bar, selecting 'Show cookies and site data,' clicking on te4.org, and clicking 'remove.' Other browsers may work differently.
4. Navigate to te4.org again. You should now be logged out and have the option to create a new account.
5. Create a new account with the desired in-game name as the account name and using the permanent e-mail address you want to use. I.e. the one you didn't use in step 2.
6. Once logged in with the new account log in with Steam on the website to link them.
7. Run T.O.M.E. from Steam and choose Log in with Steam.
You should now see the new username displayed in game as /te4.org/users/NewUserName and chat should show the new user name instead of your old Steam account name. If done correctly, this should be the account name that you created in step 5 above.
For anyone who is logging in through Steam for the first time and want to have their in-game name display as something other than their Steam account name, these steps can be avoided by creating an account on te4.org first and then linking that account to Steam.
