I'm playing my first summoner. How do you control the creatures you summon, ie, can you choose the target for them to attack?

You can right click on them and give them an order.
Once you get "summon control" (I think it is called, 4th level ability) you can right click the summon itself and "take control". that is very useful to tell it what attacks to use in what order, and also to actually take over the summon, to open dangerous doors for example.
