How about items that you don't even need to equip? I just got an artifact gem that gives me +1 light by just carrying it in my inventory.

Are the items that take away light taken into account? So that if I wear something that gives -1 light, like a ring or that sack of spider eggs, does it then negate, lets say, Wintertide Phial's +1 normal light, so that I could wear it then without it giving my invisibility away?
The only thing that matters is the final light radius, it doesn't matter if it's from a light or an ego/artifact, or even from the inventory. And yes, as long as you can negate the light radius, you can wear anything.

So, alchemists can't get the Brotherhood of Alchemists quest? Man, that's a rip off!

Can dots crit? Specifically, can Fire Alchemy nuke? I'm trying to decide between this and adv. golem and leaning towards another spell branch, but if it can't crit it will be rather weak compared to simple bomb.

Heat can not crit, though some other DoT talents can.

Well, PC Alchemists can fetch ingredients for Agrimley et al, but they can't make their own petition to join the Brotherhood.
<Ferret> The Spellblaze was like a nuclear disaster apparently: ammo became the "real" currency.

Of course they can't. The Brotherhood hopefuls spend all their time researching new [s]potions[/s] elixirs and working out exactly how to turn random monster bits into powerful tonics. The PC alchemists just research the basics on explosives and gem extraction, then spend all their time picking fights and blowing stuff up. It's just like how even that loser in the Blighted Ruins can surround himself with an army of semi-permanent undead thralls while a PC's necrotic minions fall apart if they're not constantly maintained: The player is, first and foremost, an adventurer, and all your abilities are heavily biased towards combat applications. Joining the Brotherhood is the equivalent of getting a PhD, and you're too busy working right now to even go for a Master's, you know?

Odd yet stupid question. Is an addon capable of creating new achievements, or is that buried in the ingame code? I've seen some folks suggest a few interesting ones, and am kind of surprised that there hasn't been an 'extra achievements' addon for the fans of such things... Does the code allow for achievements to be added, or could only DG/other devs do such a thing?

It doesn't look hard, but I might be missing something. The only things I see are:

Code: Select all

		world:gainAchievement("ANTI_ANTIMAGIC", game.player)
in the right place, and the files in data/achievement/foo. Does there need to be more done?

How does Iceblock thingy works in detail. I noticed I had extremely difficult time breaking them both on myself and golem as Alchemist as bombs did nothing to it. My Reaver 'attack on spell cast' don't work on it either. Also, how does its hp is calculated? I know Freeze spell have it in its tooltip, but what can I expect from one created by weapon with +ice damage? Would converts %dmg to ice be better?

Damage to an ice block is applied after increases to damage, but before resistance, Ice damage (that doesn't say differently) causes ice blocks with 2 duration and 70 + (1.5 * damage) HP.

EDIT: alchemist bombs can not hit yourself.

Shield pummel description: The stun chance increases with accuracy & strength
Anyone know the exact check? How much of each counts?

It is accuracy, but replacing STR with DEX. So if you have 40 more strength than dexterity, then it would be whatever your accuracy is, with a bonus of 40 (tiered, of course).

I tried to explore sandworm lair with teleport at full health. After casting teleport I was blind and suddenly dead.
Here is the gamelog:
Edala casts Teleport.
Edala stops surging mana.
Sand-drake breathes sand!
Edala loses sight!
Sand-drake breathes sand!
Saving Game...
Edala the level 14 dwarf archmage was hacked apart to death by a sand-drakeon level 3 of Sandworm lair
The blood of life rushes through your dead body. You come back to life!
Personal New Achievement: Unstoppable!
Saving done.
A shield forms around Edala.
Edala uses Infusion: Sun.
Suninfusion and Shielding were the first reactions after resurrection. I had full life (258 HP) and no negative status effects. After resurrection I found there one sand-drake, one greene ooze and a pile of gold (I think from the other sand-drake) but no special rare foe. Why I have died?

P.S.: I didn't find te4_log.txt in the main or local directory, so i copied with my hands and my keyboard :D

It looks like you've got two Sand Drakes there. Perhaps one killed the other with its breath, explaining why you only saw one when you rezzed.
