Yes, but they can learn Flameshock and the Backstabbing tree, and two weapons mean two freezing/burning attacks instead of one.

Flameshock has a long cooldown though - not as regularly avilable as Stunning Blow. I suppose they get a stunning attack in the Dirty Fighting tree though... Hmm, will have to try this out some time!

Is there any way to drop just some of a set of stacked things, or is the all-or-nothing a means to discoura ... ah forget it, pretty sure I just arrived at the answer, didn't I ? :)

In payment for being dumber than dumb, further to a previous exchange on the thread ... don't forget that from b13 onwards, the targetted Phase Door can fail to work if you haven't your destination in LoS - so spellwise at least, unless you're planning this escape to another corner of the same room where you're being mugged by the Scunnering Droolbeast, there's a value for Teleport. Other uses, but then getting spoilery rather than alerty.

Is it possible to turn autosaving off entirely? It takes about 5 minutes to save every time on my computer and the game is unplayable during that time, and for some reason it insists on doing it both upon entering AND exiting every town. (I've tried the options in the esc menu, but I'm on the svn so maybe I'm missing something else).

Look for a town in the southeast and go north from there.
Is said town Minas Tirith?

How do you scroll up through the history/log? Are doors manually openable (specifically, with PT on)?

Also: Is anybody else getting a total freeze/crash to desktop upon using the Orb of Many Ways? (15b)

Point the mouse pointer at the history log window and you can scroll it up and down with the wheel.

Is there something specific I'm supposed to do after completing the "Of trolls and damp caves" quest? I half-expected a new quest to be bestowed upon me either then and there or when next I returned to town, but neither has happened. I'm happy to explore the wilderness and get myself in all sorts of trouble (in fact, I have), but if there's another quest I'm supposed to be on, how might I get on it?

The "Of Trolls and Damp Caves" quest is a two-parter - both trollshaws and amon sul. After you finish both parts, you get the next quest.
