tree of life does nature damage each turn?

tree of life does nature damage each turn?

I wielded the Tree of Life totem - to see if it would heal myself (as a 'nearby living creature') each turn as well.

Unfortunately, it does 2 nature damage each turn. Why? There's nothing in the description about it doing damage.

It damages if wielder is undead, for example from lantern of unlife(if it's still in the game) .
