Mystical cunning prodigy and poison immune monsters

hello,

I'm back after few months away from the game and trying to play with poison but I'm a bit afraid about poison immune boss, someone tell me Mystical cunning prodigy maybe could help me.
But after reading the prodigy I'm not sure it will work, it say when I apply a deadly poison it applies also an unresistible magical poison which reduce all damage resistance by 10% and poison immunity by 50%.
So if monster is poison immune, can it be applied?
And is there is any difference between reduce resistance and immunity?

Vulnerability Poison ignores all poison immunity and saves, so yes.

Immunity refers to the chance to ignore status effects, resistance is reduced damage. So vuln poison makes you do 10% (well approximately) more damage to things, and if something was totally poison immune you'd have a 50% chance to poison them with your regular poison.

That's was I was expecting of the prodigy, but wording lets me think I have to be able to apply deadly poison to apply the debuff.

And I see for immunity know.
