I'm newish to the game.. Been awile since I last played.
I'm looking at a guide by Mex ie: his Wildfire Archmage guide. http://forums.te4.org/viewtopic.php?f=54&t=42019
In his guide, he has a build order. For level 1, he lists the following:
"L1: [1] Arcane Power, [2] Flame, [1] Phase Door, [1] Arcane Eye, [1] Arcane Reconstruction"
Right off the bat, I'm a bit confused, given "Arcane Power" is an ability that can only be taking at lvl 4.
My question is: Is this due to a change in the game, due to version? ie: The guide is written for 1.4.x , so perhaps at that time, "Arcane Power" was available as a lvl 1 ability?
Anyway I'm just trying to see if I'm overlooking something obvious.
Thanks.
Dumb question for this archmage guide I found.. confused ...

This is exactly it. Until recently, the Earth and Arcane trees didn't have combat talents in their first talent, so the first and second talents for those trees were swapped around. Honestly, Manathrust is much more useful then Arcane Power for the first four levels or so anyways, so it shouldn't make your life any harder.Zanatar wrote:I'm newish to the game.. Thanks for the reply. I have a few follow up questions:Arcvasti wrote:This is exactly it. 1) So other then that slight change for the order of the first and 2nd talents, do you feel the guide is still valid? If so will stick to using it then.
2) Actually I would also ask, given the guide is written for Madness difficulty, but I'm playing it on Normal. Do you think I should make any changes?
Thanks.

you won't need nearly as much scummy tactics such as those required for madness, but other than that it works perfectly fine.
though there are far more fun classes to play on normal than shield stacker mcgee

A little bit of a starters guide written by yours truly here.

1) in that guide, in his build order, for lvl 5: He has " L5: [Insult Shibari] " Any idea what this means? Not sure where he wants us to spend the points at lvl 5.
2) Well what I liked about this guide, was the build order. I'm the type that likes to follow a build, rather then experiment. I've never enjoyed experimenting. That's not how I have fun. My fun, is following a guide and build order. I really really enjoy that personally. Mex's guides are the only ones I've seen that actually lay out a build order by level like that.
Having said that, I'd follow any other guides you feel would be fun for me. I'm a new player. Still trying to re-acquaint myself with the game. It's really hard to find updated guides for v1.5.5
Thanks.

the "insult Shibari" thing was a joke :F don't pay too much attention to it or try one of the more serious guides if that is a problem (on the other hand other guides rarely include exact point order because for most players it's not that important outside Insane+ difficulty)
