I hear that addons auto-update on the Steam version of the game. However, there is totally an option to do that in the standalone version and it totally doesn't work. It's a huge pain and while I don't mind throwing more money at ToME, I don't really want to have to buy it again and buy the DLCs and stuff. So, that being said, is there
1) A way to auto-update addons on the non-Steam standalone launcher version? Or,
2) A way to get the Steam version with all my DLCs and donator status without having to buy it again from the Steam store?
Manually updating them all the time isn't necessarily the end of the world, but it does pretty effectively ensure that I always have outdated versions of all my addons.

Addon Auto-Updates
Let slip the toast of war.
Re: Addon Auto-Updates
If you bought the game anywhere other than GoG.com you can get it on steam for free. Check your profile page on te4.org and hit the steam tab.
And the steam version only auto updates addons you get through the steam workshop not anything you get off the website. Not everything is on the steam workshop and I've had with steam mods so I wouldn't say you are missing that much.

So the in-game option to auto-update just doesn't work at all then, and I'm not just not getting it?

I think something has broken, as I thought it was the same system for updating DLC.
My feedback meter decays into coding. Give me feedback and I make mods.

It is the same, but IIRC there's at least one big issue for OSX in that you can't just update what's inside of the application (where the game folder resides in the current version) that way because apps don't tend to like things stuffed inside them. I had always thought this was a bug with that OS though.HousePet wrote:I think something has broken, as I thought it was the same system for updating DLC.
That issue is probably the root of why GOG hasn't updated the OSX builds for ages yet though, while all the others are up to date.
