Is there a way, to know if I should use "mana clash" on NPC ?
(Beccause parsing logfile for each new NPC can be really tedious past the beginning).
When I examine an NPC, I don't even know if it has mana/vim/pos/neg).
If someone knows a trick, it'll be cool.

right click, inspect creature. see if it has a magical resource
-mana
-positive
-negative
-vim
-paradox
if it does, check it's talent in the talent tab to check how many spells he has.
also, reducing a resource to 0, will disable all of its sustains, based on that resource.
magic ones are no exception.
that much you probably know.
so to make a guess before closer inspection.
well, you've got to learn their enemies.
if it looks like a mage and has a stave, its probably a mage.
if it looks like a mage, but has mindstars, its most likely oozemancer, doomed or a solipsist. in that case, mana clash is useless.

if you know the game, you will easily notice, "those particles belong in that tree, and these in this tree", "this aura is necrotic, and that one is of the gloom".
now, then there are rare and randbosses enemies. them you scan anyway, and you know they are ALWAYS a potential threat.

As for your second advice, it was my way to do before (if I was able to identify the sustained/talents of the NPC, I was able to guess what class it was).

Inspect creature is hugely useful for anything difficult (make sure to take a look at their various resistances to stun/whatever status effects you can inflict).
