HELP! Using numpad for skill targeting?

#1 Post by Ladril »

Hello everyone,

I am having an issue with tome. It seems there are some varying accounts of what other players are experiencing.

When you...

1. Press 1, or 2, or 3, or whatever (or click on a skill) to use a skill...

2. And then press the numpad keys...

Does it...

A) Move the cursor 1 tile at a time?

B) Cycle through on-screen targets?

It ALWAYS used to be "A" for me. All of a sudden today it switched to "B" and I have no idea why. A moderator in chat said that B is default behavior. (I have never messed with settings though!) Other players backed him up.

But then other players started saying that it's always been "A" for them, same as me.

There were still more players who said that pressing numlock switched between "A" and "B" for them. (This obviously does not work for me, sadly.)

Whatever your result, holding down shift while pressing the numpad should result in the opposite effect. This is the only way for me to be able to target skills manually, one tile at a time: by holding shift. It NEVER used to be this way. I did not even know that you could cycle through on-screen targets until it "broke" today.

All I want is to be able to manually target my skills again with the numpad WITHOUT having to hold shift. :'(

I have exited to the main menu and back into the game. I have made a new character. I have pressed shift, control, alt, num lock, caps lock, you name it, multiple times. I have looked through all the keybinds and options. I have restarted tome. I have restarted steam. I have restarted my computer. I have, with the advice of other players, deleted my keybinds file. NOTHING WORKS!

You have no idea how much this bugs me. I am begging for help. I created a forums account for solely this reason. Please, please, please, help me.

My feedback meter decays into coding. Give me feedback and I make mods.

Hard to say for sure, but it *sounds* like there is a setting on your keyboard that causes the numpad keys to be sent to the program with the shift modifier set. It was set for you for a long time and for some reason it is now unset. From your report, some people's keyboard does this when numlock is set, but does not for yours. I would experiment with different things like function lock, scroll lock, etc, etc, until you find out what it is.

press shift + numkeys. also numpad button should be switched otherwise diagonal directions won't work.

i don't remember using a noompad for that, but when i press an arrow key, it selects closest "target" in that general diraction.
i assume that numpad would do the same.

unless you are using a melee skill. then i know it auto activates on "that tile"
