How does Luck work?

#1 Post by mikekchar »

Searching the archives I found this message: http://forums.te4.org/viewtopic.php?f=6 ... ck#p147542

Interestingly, the wiki page it links to seems to be missing now. If those numbers are correct, I should see an improvement of 2 in accuracy and defence if I improve luck by 5. I assume that's before diminishing returns?

I started to realize the depth of this game when someone pointed out the 2.5% proc damage per accuracy bonus of staves. I had completely ignored it as it seems a worthless stat. After building an Arcane Blade around proc / accuracy bonuses and seeing what ridiculous damage you can get, I suddenly realized that probably none of these stats should be ignored ;-). So I'm kind of wondering if there are any useful strategies surrounding luck. Does anyone have any experience/opinions?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't luck start at 50, so those bonuses are only for numbers above 50?

There are so few modifiers for luck, you can just count the modifiers easily.

From what I remember halflings got a luck bonus too. Might want to double-check the .lua files to be sure, too.

If you could invest points in Luck like in any other stat, it would easily be THE stat. Outclassing every other one other than, probably, Willpower for some classes.
You can't play much with it aside from wearing Halfling Foot, being a halfling, or taking Lucky Day, though.

Yes, I tried to exploit luck, but so far I have never found enough items to really help me. After I gave up doing that, I found a rand art necklace with +12 luck, and many other good things, but it is the only item I have with luck :-)

So it looks useful if you are lucky enough to find +luck items, but since you can't plan for that, there isn't much way to exploit it.

You can't really exploit luck, as it is generally just a flat bonus.
