Steam Linux Client Launch Questions

#1 Post by Boozermonkey »

Hello. I am running Debian Wheezy 64 bit and have 469 hours logged thus far of the game. Love it! But..

I have noticed some strange oddities running the version of the client that is launched from the Steam launcher, such as the game bugging out with the Melinda quest, sometimes failing to save or retrieve saved games, game crashes, in-game browser issues, and some other minor entirely playable oddball things I have reported in the bug section here. Anyway, when trying to troubleshoot some of these things I noticed that the Steam launcher seems to point towards a windows executable for te4, specifically, cef3spawn64.exe. This is mighty strange, I thought. Why would it point towards a windows executable when there is a native linux launcher available to use?

How can I change the Steam launcher to point towards t-engine64 or t-engine? I have tested the t-engine launcher, and it seems to work on my system just great without any of the aformentioned issues. Thanks.

EDIT: I believe I have traced the problem to how the Steam client is launching the 64 bit version of the game. For some reason, it does not want to run well on my 64 bit Wheezy. How can I change the launcher options in Steam to point towards t-engine, instead of its 64 bit counterpart?
