As the title states, I'm playing a necromancer (cornac) for the first time and can't for the life of me figure out how to become a lich! I already completed the ritual at the sher'tul fortress and have one point in lich form.
The problems
- The sustain ability is greyed out so I can't activate it despite having more than enough mana.
- I can't put any more points in lichform (beyond the 1 I got from the ritual) because it says the quest From Death, Life has not been completed. Which is odd since it's marked as finished in my journal, I'm over level 20 and have Celia's heart.
Is this a bug or am I missing something obvious?
How do I become a lich?

Re: How do I become a lich?
After completing the ritual all you have to do is die with the sustain on and it should turn you into lich.
If it says you can't spend any more points on the skill it somehow implies you might be a lich already, cause iirc, after becoming one you can't invest points anymore.
Edit: After looking at your char page it seems you're a lich and have points in the form skill so I take it this is resolved already.

Stronk is a potent combatant with a terrifying appearance.

Re: How do I become a lich?
I have learned recently that you cannot invest more points into lichform if you are undead.
Not just straight up undead-undead, but rather treated as undead via a belt/lantern of unlife.
Don't know if this was the exact cause, but I thought I should post this here in case anyone else has a similar issue.

Re: How do I become a lich?
This was indeed the issue. Took me a while to puzzle it out, since there wasn't any feedback specific to the problem and I had completely forgotten that I had a rare lantern with the unlife trait. It would be nice if there was a popup or message to that effect ("You're already undead!"). Marking the quest as uncompleted in the talent's prerequisites is also completely misleading.Galax, the Trashman wrote:I have learned recently that you cannot invest more points into lichform if you are undead.

Yes, thanks for checking although I'm pretty embarrassed by this character. Seriously considering restarting my minion necro, investing in husks and skipping the cold damage tree since it doesn't synergize with minions at all.Faeryan wrote:After completing the ritual all you have to do is die with the sustain on and it should turn you into lich.

Re: How do I become a lich?
The cold gets better if you raise your cold resistance and the skill that gives the minions your resitances. It can totally be skipped as well.
