Category points on an adventurer?

Exactly how many do they get? I know they start with 5, and then (I assume) get the same 4 other characters get at levels 10, 20, 35, and the vial. Is that it? I was looking at a few adventurer characters on the vault and it looks like most had 12-13 total.

You begin with 7 category point as an adventurer. Then you can buy a few tree (Combat training, staff and mindstrar trees). Then you can get Harmony or Fungus trees for free after a quest.
With your 3 level up points (or 4 for Cornac) That should get you to 12-14
