Question on how you spend your gold and on Transmog chest.

#1 Post by Zanatar »

Ok few new dumb question's for you ;)
Not so much a dumb question as it is an inexperienced one.

1) How exactly do you all use your Gold in the game? ie: I find there is so much "found" loot in the game, that I don't really see myself using my gold at all, in shops or otherwise. On my char now, I have over 600 gold.. have found nothing really to spend it on. Do you guys spend your gold? If so, on what? And why? (given you will likely find something better as you play).

2) Concerning the Transmogrification chest, how do you all personally use it? I'm not asking how it works.. but rather.. how do you all tend to use it? ie: Do you find yourself taking items out into your own inventory , in order to sell it make a bit more goldÉ .. or do you tend to just Transmog everything (because it`s just easier).

Depending on the answer's to number 1) .. might change my view of 2). Because.. right now, I tend not to bother moving stuff to my inventory to sell in shops.. it`s alot more work for that extra gold.. and given I don't really tend to spend it.. it`s tedious for nothing.. Better for just to Transmog anything I won't be wearing.

Thanks,
Zanatar.

1) you'll find a very decent gold sink if you get back to 1st part of the game from the 2nd. yeah i think that's how you explain it without spoilers.

2) you just pick any items you need when the game asks you what to transmog. when you need a lot of fast gold/energy, you transmog gems

I sometimes go shopping after t1 or t2 dungeons if I haven't got suitable items.

Hitting the stores, particularly the 'high end' towns (Last Hope, Angolen, Zigur) after you have a couple hundred gold can often turn up some decent upgrades, particularly runes and infusions. Sometimes some nice weapons and armour, even artifacts, in the shops too.

I usually go to Last Hope when I hit 300 gold to pick up some purple item, as I tend to have bad luck early on. That's more or less where my starting thousand goes then (weapon + some nice gloves or belts + maybe an inscription), and it makes the game somewhat easier to deal with. That's the only time I transmog gems, as from tier 3+ they're actually worth saving for Angolwen jeweler.
I never sell items into shops unless I think I may pick it up later for some odd reason, and I don't have fortress yet.

I transmogrify everything except gems, the gold you get is the same they would give you in a store for the item anyway so you might as well just do it... Gems are either an emergicy form of gold, or good to save up until you have opened up the fortress and then transmogrify all the gems for the gold + energy.

As for where I spend it... Well wherever I see something I really want badly... On my last run with an archmage I bought an awesome tier 3 staff for almost 300 gold. It has +25 spellpower, +20% of a damage type and had the manasurge abillity. It did other things as well but those were the main things that interested me in it.

Don't be afraid to spend your gold if you find anything useful, but similarly don't spend all your money on neglectable upgrades.
