My first run was a beserker who made is to level 25 on adventure mode. I just couldn't handle the areas with lots of mages because they could take half my life in one shot. Initially, I dumped all my stat points into str/con for the first 20 levels until I realized I probably need to spread out. I could take the melee hits fine, but not the magic damage.
I grabbed some gear with +spell bonus rolls. but I'm not sure how much it helped. I have a few questions, though:
1. What is a good rule of thumb for allocating base stats so I can survive mages later in the game? I think even my beserker could have used points in magic, will, and cunning.
2. How do the stat points compare to straight roll bonuses on the gear? Does 1 cunning grant 1 +mental bonus roll or more? I was wondering if the +stats were better than the gear with +rolls.

Re: how to get spell resist around level 20. help with stat
Fighting casters and other ranged threats is more about strategy than stats. Use terrain to prevent mulitple casters from being able to fire on you, lure them around corners and jump them, avoid rushing at a distant enemy if you can't be certain it doesn't have backup, and never enter the Dark Crypt unless you have a way to detect enemies through walls and enough survivability/mobility to escape if you're Dark Portaled into the center of a room full of corruptors.
-Spell Save doesn't protect you from magic damage, only from magical status effects. Magic is useless for Berserkers outside of niche gimmick builds. Willpower isn't great for them either, but the bonus crit rate from Cunning makes it worth putting points into.
-Stats gained from gear are identical to base stats in terms of their effects.

Thanks for the information. I was referring to how much +rolls you get for each stat point. I noticed all the stats showed 0 for my beserker, maybe it is different for other classes.stinkstink wrote:Fighting casters and other ranged threats is more about strategy than stats. If you're talking about the ones listed in the levelup screen, those aren't the bonuses from your stat total, they show the effects from stat points you've allocated but have yet to confirm.

Ah, I thought it might have been a bug.stinkstink wrote:If you're talking about the ones listed in the levelup screen, those aren't the bonuses from your stat total, they show the effects from stat points you've allocated but have yet to confirm.
