Re: Dumb questions thread
Isn't it possible to credit the player with norgan's kills or something?

Because otherwise everyone would backstab pure Norgan. He does not (?) deserve this.String wrote:Why do the stairs in the dwarven starter zone force a level up? I think that is the only place in the game that does that.
This would probably lead to people complaining: "Norgan is killing everyone in my stead, it is too boring!"String wrote:Isn't it possible to credit the player with norgan's kills or something?

Betraying to Zigur - I've never seen the option, and I've unlocked antimagic several times. What am I missing? (Yes I read the front-gate sign)

Re: Dumb questions thread
When you get an escort quest, the escort's "class" is randomly selected. If the escortee is non-arcane (warrior, rogue, etc.) then there's no betrayal option.
You will get the betrayal option if all of the following are true:
You will get the betrayal option if all of the following are true:
- The escort's class is one of the "arcane" types.
- You have unlocked the "may betray escortees to Zigur" option, on this character or a previous character.
- You do not currently have any arcane talents. This includes runes.

Does Invoke Golem circumvent teleport restrictions?
Re: Dumb questions thread
You only can betray magic users like Anorthil, Alchemist, etc. You can't betray warriors for example. I also think that if you have mana you won't be able to betray anymore. Not sure if it's just about your base class, like if you're an Archmage or a Shadowblade, or it also doesn't allow you if you gained mana from getting a magic using spell like Arcane Eye reward from an escort.ibanix wrote:Betraying to Zigur - I've never seen the option, and I've unlocked antimagic several times. edit: oh it's already been answered... So I guess I was correct in my assumption that you can't betray if you have any arcane spell talents.
I also have a question about level scaling in the dungeons. Is there a "cap" that determines this? For example, in The Maze, sometimes I would get the usual 2 level dungeon with the Minotaur as the boss, but sometimes I would get a 4 level version with holes in the ground and the boss is a horror. It seems like the latter is much harder. The monsters are a lot stronger too. There's this enemy that spins blades around it and it hurts a ton. In the Old Forest, sometimes I would get Wrathroot (I think that's the name of the ice tree) but sometimes I would get a fire using boss that fights in range. What determines what I get?

Re: Dumb questions thread
Those 'harder' versions (the crystalline forest with the ranged boss, and the multi-level maze (I thought it was 5 floors?) are 'alternates', and they aren't necessarily harder. Seeing them is random. I honestly prefer the new maze with some classes, compared to the standard version. I have yet to see the alternate forest however. But each of the tier 1 dungeons, and the first 4 tier 2 dungeons (Old forest, Maze, Sandworm lair, and Daikara) all have alternate versions now.
As for the horror you mentioned, that would be a blade horror. Best solution is to get out of range of it's blades (Disengage, phase door, teleport, etc, followed by magic/ranged attacks to kill it), or to stun it and kill it fast. (Rush, assault, any other hard hitting melee talents.)
And if you're level 12-18 or so, depending on when you do the maze, you shouldn't have TOO many problems with a solitary blade horror. (Some squishier builds notwithstanding.)

Here's one: On ego items, what are 'insidious poison' and 'corrupted blood'?

Re: Dumb questions thread
Insidious poison is damage over time that also reduces the target's healing modifier; corrupted blood is blight damage with a chance to cause disease (blight damage over time).
<Ferret> The Spellblaze was like a nuclear disaster apparently: ammo became the "real" currency.

Re: Dumb questions thread
This is located on the wiki, regarding power and saves. Can anyone confirm this, and explain more?
There are 5 tiers for power and saves. These are not related to item tiers. It costs more to increase scores that are in higher tiers. For each tier, here's the cost of increasing your score by one:
Tier 1: 1 point, from 0 to 20
Tier 2: 2 points, from 20 to 40
Tier 3: 3 points, from 40 to 60
Tier 4: 4 points, from 60 to 80
Tier 5: 5 points, from 80 to 100

I don't know any elegant way to explain it, beyond what's written there. I'm hoping the examples will suffice, or that someone else can find better words.

Ok, so reading that: Are the game displayed values the raw value, or the rescaled value?

Fun, the Chronomancy / Chronomacy tree didn't get imported, most likely because of namespace collision. Creating that now...
