Re: Dumb questions thread
Addenum: my new summon/frost necro is thriving far better than summon/shadows used to, curiously.
Re: Dumb questions thread
Hi all -- my character, a level 12 Necromancer, suddenly has a light radius of zero. I took all my stuff off to make sure I'm not wearing any kind of sneakthief item or anything, and even after I wield my lantern the character sheet still it says zero light radius with a 13 vision range. Am I cursed or something?
Thanks!
David
Thanks!

Is there are any way to start a new character without autospending stat points for starting equipment?
Re: Dumb questions thread
I believe there is checkbox for it in game options.Strongpoint wrote:Is there are any way to start a new character without autospending stat points for starting equipment?

Re: Dumb questions thread
Does investing more points in a hex (eg: pacification hex) make it less likely to be shrugged off?

No, as far as I am aware all status effects only check the relevant power and the relevant save. (In Hexes' case, spellpower and spell save, respectively)
<Ferret> The Spellblaze was like a nuclear disaster apparently: ammo became the "real" currency.

It's mental save, for hexes, actually.phantomglider wrote:No, as far as I am aware all status effects only check the relevant power and the relevant save. (In Hexes' case, spellpower and spell save, respectively)
Re: Dumb questions thread
What problem(s) would cause me to have the last several versions of TOME never get past 0% on the loading page? (the one with the knight in black armor and the rather buxom woman?) The older versions work fine for me. I can run version 31, but not 37, 38, 39. I'm not sure about the ones in between. I'm currently downloading version 40.
Re: Dumb questions thread
Might be an SDL issue. B41 should fix it - please be patient and stick to older versions that work for now (unless you want to try compiling the SVN).

Re: Dumb questions thread
Is there any bug with Ice Claw? It seems to miss most of the time
Edit: While we are at it: how much of a good idea are mindstars with Wyrmics?

Re: Dumb questions thread
That's just typical Wyrmic accuracy problems, with a dash of confirmation bias. If you want your melee attacks (including melee-based talents like Ice Claw) to hit more often, put more points in Combat Accuracy.
EDIT: You could do some kind of antimagic Mindstar Mastery Wyrmic build, but it probably would take a long time to get good and not be that great even once you get there. Ice Claw etc. want high damage weapons, which Mindstars emphatically are not, and not a lot of their stuff runs very strongly off of Mindpower. Even the breaths are Physical Power.

Re: Dumb questions thread
Do mindstars not run off of standard dex accuracy, then?
Also, what's up with this whole mindstar set thing?

Re: Dumb questions thread
Mindstars work on standard accuracy right now, but next beta they will use an alternate accuracy formula that replaces Dex with Wil.
Mindstar sets mostly work like other sets. You have two, both are in the same set, wield them both, they both get a bonus. Most of the paired names are fairly similar: caller's and summoner's, wrathful and hateful, etcetera. The special parts are "resonating" and "harmonious" mindstars, which can pair with any psionic or natural greater mindstar ego, respectively, and "drake's" mindstars, which can pair with any of the elemental greater egos (of sand, of frost, etc.) To use these, equip the mindstar you want to pair with in one hand, the variable-set mindstar in the other hand, and use the variable mindstar. You should be able to choose the first mindstar, which will make them work as a set.
