Tentacular experiments

#1 Post by visage »

I just spent a little time experimenting with a tentacular adventurer.

Tentacles work very nicely with Magical Combat -- your ranged AoE can trigger an awful lot of Magical Combat procs; you're getting bonus attacks on adjacent enemies; and it does not seem to count as dual wielding (does not work with Blade Threading), so I assume the proc chance is not halved.

Other notes: Tentacles trigger off of Beyond The Flesh attacks. Tentacle attacks obey skill damage multipliers (so Cursed/Slaughter:Frenzy does *not* produce ridiculous amounts of dark tentacle damage). They also count as hits for purposes of Expose Weakness (which, when combined with Magical Combat and Reaving combat, can easily get you to 4 Expose Weakness stacks).

Tentacles also trigger off of Dream Hammer. Without the Arcane Combat Mod Merge addon, this isn't as ridiculous, but it's still fun to throw imaginary tentacled hammers around.

Not Adventurer specific, but Ogrewielders know enough to wield a two-hander in one hand while keeping the other open for tentacles.

e: Will be interesting to see what Sawrd and/or Razorlock do to a Tentacle / Arcane Combat character. If you're essentially doubling your Sawrd output through Tentacle strikes, you're not going to have to worry about Insanity any more, you're going to be proccing a ton of Chaos Orbs, and you're going to be able to spam an astonishing amount of Earthen Missiles if you can find a mana on crit item.

Sidebar: assuming the converse of the Stone Warden / AB combo, Sawrd's proc damage penalty should not apply to any non-beam Arcane Combat procs, correct?

Sidebar 2: Anyone with more "what caused this effect" savvy than I check Flexible Combat yet?

Tentacular brawler only kind of works. You get the base tentacle effect, but the active tentacle abilities require a weapon in your main hand.
