Build Me a ... Burninator! (RIP)
What's a good way to leverage Elemental Harmony + Wildfire?
Doesn't have to be uber, just someone viable who enjoys going very fast, and setting himself & others on fire.

Re: Build Me a ... Burninator!
Definitely shield (e.g. Shield offence) and Celestial/Guardian to proc healing while burning. Probably Wildfire to reduce self-damage. Maybe Fire alchemy (but this may require Magical Combat to make actual use of it). Due to moderate number of core talents in such build and to fully leverage Retribution+Second Life combo it may be good idea to take Slime Roots and Nature's Balance for endless cooldown resets.
Re: Build Me a ... Burninator!
Burning Wake/Wildfire and Devouring Flame are the easiest way to self-damage in fire. I'd suggest the former.
Something with Temporal/Fire/Wildfire/Shadowflame for even more speed and fire. Past that, whatever sounds good.

Re: Build Me a ... Burninator!
Thanks for the advice!
Celestial / Guardian was a great suggestion, goes very nicely with Celestial / Light. Since that requires Magic and Strength, he also took the Arcane Combat line (which got me some mana regen and some free Flame procs). The whole Shield Offense line goes very nicely with Arcane Combat: hello, crits and explosions!
I feel like Temporal is a bit iffy so far (just got to level 20). This guy doesn't have enough mana to use Essence of Speed at all, and of the rest, only Time Shield is used regularly. Haven't used Congeal Time much (even though it looks quite decent if situational), and Time Prison is very expensive.
This guy took the Fungus line (for Equilibrium regen and other regen perks), but he hasn't invested heavily in it yet due to Willpower limitations. He's putting more points in Con rather than Willpower, because his life points look frighteningly small compared to the damage he's taking.
Regarding gear, this guy got hit with some Adventurer ambushes on his way to the Sandworm Lair, and HOLY COW do they have some nice gear. Very early on he got a suit of +4 Str / +4 Mag armor ("thundering") which was helpful in terms of meeting talent requirements.
Here he is:

Re: Build Me a ... Burninator!
Str/Mag/Wil/Con build that splits into physicals, eh? Interesting. I'd focus more on Str/Mag than Con/Wil(Will should be the thing you need the least, I wouldn't build it too much more than you already have.).
Essence of Speed is indeed something you'll be using more later-don't rush it, grab it past 30 at least.
Oh, and strongly consider using Telos Top for your mainhand weapon.
Stickbonks!

Re: Build Me a ... Burninator!
Maybe it's just because I'm playing more carefully, but this dude seems surprisingly survivable so far. He's good at ranged (Flame / Fireflash), he's good at midrange (Fireshock), and he's utterly brutal at burst melee damage. His shields are not the greatest, but even at 1-2 points they've been very helpful. He just sunk two more points into Time Shield, so that's up to ~400 damage, which seems decent.
He just beat the Orc Ambush outside Dreadfell and hit level 30.
What should he pick for a Prodigy? Edit: His choices seem to be:
- Flexible Combat
- Arcane Might
- Irresistible Sun
- Cauterize <-- looks like the best option
- Superpower
- Temporal Form <-- looks cool, but I can already burn Fire Wyrms to death thanks to Wildfire 5/5
(Also, what should I do with his 2 free category points?)
Thanks for the help so far, this is turning out to be a more durable character than I'd expected, and the Wildfire burnination is as entertaining as I'd hoped. ("You set me on fire? I'll fix that with MORE FIRE!")

Re: Build Me a ... Burninator!
One begs to go into Guardian. And infusion slot. Btw, why no Bathe in Light+Healing Nexus combo?

Re: Build Me a ... Burninator!
He picked up Guardian at level 10, same time as Wildfire. (Saved a cat point from character creation.) Guardian has been useful -- I mentioned it upthread!AlexanderR wrote:One begs to go into Guardian. And infusion slot. Btw, why no Bathe in Light+Healing Nexus combo?

I haven't found the points to put in Healing Nexus yet, but yeah, that's a great idea. Thanks!

Re: Build Me a ... Burninator!
I am talking about second point into Guardian. Don't you want bigger Retribution radius? Also may take Meta solely for Quicken spells.

Re: Build Me a ... Burninator!
I'm playing a combination of this and the Mindslaying Rampager - http://te4.org/characters/11346/tome/2f ... 9c21ccf910.
Working very well so far, just charged through Dreadfell and the Ambush with ease.
I'd suggest Rampage and Absorption are good choices for your cat points.
Also, why no points in Second Life?

Re: Build Me a ... Burninator!
Note: for some reason the game crashed when I was fleeing the multi-hued murder wyrms in the Vor Armory. I may have to re-play the Vor Armory, but this time with a Prodigy chosen (Cauterize, I guess?).
I found an item which grants Fire Affinity +30%, so that's even more reason to hang out in my sea of flames.
Not really in theme for this build, but from a pure optimization perspective you are probably correct.
I've not had good luck with Retribution... it seems to go off when I'm walking out of my own flames after a fight, rather than during melee when it would be useful.AlexanderR wrote:I am talking about second point into Guardian. Yeah, Rampage + Absorption is an awesome combo, which even I can empirically validate.eddparsons wrote:I'm playing a combination of this and the Mindslaying Rampager - http://te4.org/characters/11346/tome/2f ... 9c21ccf910.

Re: Build Me a ... Burninator!
If retribution goes off during a fight it means you were taking full damage for the rest of the fight or its cooldown whichever is shorter. Ideally I think you should manually cycle it after a fight and have it never go off. If it's lasting through fights you have the right amount of it I'd say.

And yeah, it's very useful for reducing damage. It's just been less useful as a damage source. But I'll put some more talent points into Retribution and see how it performs.
Just cleared out most of the Vor armory (this time ignoring a certain room).

Re: Build Me a ... Burninator!
Okay, here he is, level 41: http://te4.org/characters/52902/tome/d8 ... 3126d83cab
He's back in the West, and he's cleared the backup guardians + got the bottom half of Telos.
He's been investing in Second Life and Retribution, and he's feeling pretty solid.
Questions:
- When he killed a Nightmare Horror boss (via Farportal), he "felt closer to the Abyss"... what does that mean?
- For some reason his base Dexterity and Cunning are now 9. That seems rather low, since Adventurers start with a base of 12. What could have happened?
- Which "unique" merchant item should he request? He's got a great weapon, good armor & helm, and his shield seems pretty decent. Alternately, that merchant has the Blood of Life for 2400 gp.
- Regarding the Alchemists quest, he's gotten three potions already (+2 generic talent points, +2 class talent points, +4% spell crit). He's got all the ingredients for either the +5 luck potion, or the +4% physical crit potion, but he can't get both. Which should he take?
- Which two of his large heap of inscriptions should he use?
Thanks!

ate Wyrm Bile from backup Sandworm? ... other than the Cat Point, it changes all stats between -6 to +6Doctornull wrote:- For some reason his base Dexterity and Cunning are now 9. That seems rather low, since Adventurers start with a base of 12. What could have happened?
hmm ... i'd consider Gloves or maybe Cloak ... they seem like your weakest slots ... then again ... the Randart t5 Gloves you have in your inventory seems nice- Which "unique" merchant item should he request?
