Prodigies for Stonewarden RL Insane Run

#1 Post by joramsey »

Just infiltrated the fortress and hit lvl 30 on my current Stonewarden. Here's the sheet: https://te4.org/characters/201218/tome/ ... 0a041d6aeb Thought that's a good time to think about my prodigies.

My inclination is to do spectral shield and arcane might...a bit of defense and a bit of offense. Probably spectral shield now (next up is Dreadfall and who knows what those maps will throw out me damage wise) and hit arcane might at lvl 42 when I have better +mag equipment for the offensive boost.

From reading around, it seems some folks recommend spectral shield and eternal guard. My only worry there is that with that combo I'd want to hit block whenever it comes off cool down and potentially waste a turn in combat when I could be moving or damaging (then again I get double damage on counterstrikes). Otherwise if I'm not doing that, I'm wasting the prodigy choices.

And either way, spectral shield now...then I don't have to worry about block types just choosing the best block value, damage, and other procs from my looted shields.

I'm open to being talked out of spectral shield and arcane might in favor of spectral + guard...or any other combo. Thoughts?

never ever take spectral shield. It's bottom 3 prod and it's even worse on SW than on any other shield class.

either go full offense ICCtW + AM or some defense with ICCtW/AM + Cauterize/Spine of the World

I guess Eternal Guard is legit on SW even but I prob wouldn't take it on a serious run.
I write guides and make addons too now, apparently

You can go here for a compilation of everything I wrote, plus some other important stuff!

Includes general guides (inscriptions, zone, prodigies), and class guides (Demo, Anorithil, Bulwark, Zerker, Sblade)

Thanks, Cathbald, especially for the quick response!

Points taken—and I reviewed your prodigy guide, so I understand why now too.

according to my experiece on a nightmare stonewarden, blocking+counterstrike is not a good idea because the counterstrike will usually be triggered by your counterstrike sustain (forgot its name) so the extra damage is not high, even with eternal guard, but of course blocking may let you survive longer so dont forget it totally.
