I found my Arcane Archmage on normal mode to be insanely powerful in the late-game, and decided to try more or less the same build for nightmare (roguelike). After losing a level 17 character, and some very low-level ones, I finally got my Disruption Shield down below 0.5 mana / dmg. taken, and it was increasingly a breeze from there. The only enemies that gave me pause were ones who consistently stripped my sustains (read Disruption Shield) or ones with Mana Clash, before I had a large enough mana pool to safely hurt myself to prepare for the clash (364 mana at talent level 12). The Dark Crypt was also scary, at level 27, and was cleared by using Invisibility and digging walls to improve the battle field layout :>
Sustained DPS on a single target dummy of 5000 before winning, with Aether Beam and Aether Breach hitting for 8-9k each in total, and Manathrusts for 2.5-3k.
