Bulwark

#1 Post by vulturesrow »

Anyone mind throwing up a quick and dirty on building a good Bulwark? New to the game but not to roguelikes in general.

Wow, I never noticed that Bulwark's don't have a guide. I've never done well with them, but I can tell you that Assault is considered one of the best attack skills in the game, if not THE best.

After a counter, it allows you to do ridiculous amounts of damage. I've yet to see an Assault on either my Bulwark (RIP, for my desire to unlock Doomed at level ~27 was what killed my first to make it to the East, and only character so far to find the Master rather easy) or my Sun Paladin do less than half a monster's hp, with the possible exception of bosses.

Not quite what the original post was about, but it's not important enough to make a new topic.

I was wondering, what's the advantage of bulwark over arcane blade and wyrmic? Both of them can get the shield offense tree, but also plenty of other cool stuff. Where bulwark only have shield defense that they only can get, which really isn't that good imo, I only played them quickly so I might be missing something, but I just don't really see the advantage. The biggest problem I see with them is they don't have any talent that makes them good at handling elemental damage until they reach there first proficiency.

Shield defense is a good tree, mostly for Shield Wall (65% stun immunity). They also get Step Up, Greater Weapon Focus, easy access to Rush, the Conditioning tree, and other stuff as well.
