It is totally different build but it is definitely working. I've notice the other day that out of sudden i do 600+ dmg achievements at level 10. Something modified my arcane combat lightning dmg!

As it turned out proc dmg affect ALL dmg channeled through weapons. That includes lightning / fire beam spells and any additional dmg that are included in your melee attack (for example dust to dust beam attack from artifact gloves etc and ofc arcane destruction is buffed too). It wont boost earthen missiles and it wont boost low level fire dmg. Projectiles are not the part of melee attack. (@Shibari Thanks for clearing this up)

I've checked arcane blade winners but all of them are using sword / dagger or dagger / dagger. I would argue that math favours staff and staff / shield builds but i failed to prove it ;) I made a few lightning heavy arcane blades but i simply suck with this class and all of them died in horrible ways :/ Someone with more experiance should definitely give it a shot and make a guide for staff + shield AB because this should be fun !

400 base lightning dmg * 150% from dmg modifier * 250% from crits * 400% from accuracy = 6k arcane combat dmg

Add arcane destruction, GWF, weapon dmg, proc dmg bonus on any bonus dmg from your gear etc. I bet you will break 20k dmg per shield offense attack easily.

I heard shield offense talents will have the same reduced chance to proc spells as dual wielding but I haven't confirmed it. If not, then it is probably very powerful, but you do miss out on amazing daggers like Mercy and Life Drinker.

I don't like Lightning as much as Flame since you can get Fireshock if going Flame, which is better than anything in the Air category.
My wiki page, which contains a guide and resource compilation and class tier list.

Shouldn't be the case. When the game tests to see if AC procs, it only divides by two if you're dual wielding. Shields don't count for that.

They do not.

Better yet (or worse yet), shields get the Staff accuracy bonus (+4% proc/acc), which can get absurd.
Check out my addons: Nullpack (classes), Null Tweaks (items & talents), and New Gems fork.

Staff accuracy is based on the DIFFERENCE between your accuracy and defence. So at higher difficulty levels, where most npcs have very high defence, it doesn't help nearly as much. Even when I had 120+ accuracy (yes, that's over 400 raw accuracy), it often didn't help a huge amount . But when I came across a little old snake with 10 defence, well, 130 x 2.5 = 260x the damage :-). Unfortunately, though, they also all have huge resists, but still 10-20,000 dmg was easy to get per bump.

Some npcs btw have over 150 accuracy and 150 physical power on madness, so it works both ways ;-)
MADNESS rocks
