On Moonchild;

So with the newest update, the Old Maid is more manageable. With my run I was able to consistently defeat it.

The current issue (still) is when encountering elites and rares. They are able to one shot kill.
Even though I am using golden curtain and have rising caprice (so therefore should receive less damage).

As for Fearscape, the demons are no issue for me. At times they can be challenging. And when I die, it is due to my carelessness.
However whatever I do or strategy I use, I cannot defeat Planar Controller.

Somehow my most successful runs are with Halflings. Maybe it is due to the stats and also Luck of the Little Folk for the increase critical chance.
As for Fetch, I am able to survive the Titania Court and beyond, as long as I encounter common enemies.
Once I encounter elites or rares, then I better escape.

The being said, because this class does not have natural escape and have only some healing and shields, I wonder if the inscriptions and charm you want to use are narrow. You will always want to go for movement inscription to escape. Then either you choose Shield (better) or Healing. Knockback charm is useful.

With other classes you can experiment with different loadouts. Moonchild you cannot experiment, because you need to have the exact equipment in order to survive.

When I start battle I increase my caprice without worrying about damage. Once I have sufficient I use Golden Curtain, which hopefully switch to decrease caprice. Then I use Rainchill and other damage stuff in the increase damage state. Once my Golden Curtain expires, then I quickly escape and switch back to positive caprice. At time when the enemy is too close and if I fear my Golden Curtain is too weak, I rather use the Movement inscription to get some distance, before attacking again.

I wonder how others would play it.

If you get stone alchemy, the alch gem ammo count covers the Caprice bar.

Funny, I just ran into that one myself. I'll look into it when I next feel programming-y.

Just a fix for the above UI bug, remain comfy

Changes for v1.2.4:
Fixed various UI elements (ammunition, save progress, etc.) being drawn over the Caprice bar as though it wasn't there

Icy Torment - when the effect triggers, I get the notification "NAME is empowered by despair, granting them XX% of a turn ". Except that, I don't experience any difference. My status bar doesn't have an extra notification, neither do I experience being faster than my opponents. Is this working as intendent?

__

Bereavement - with other advanced trees, I feel putting the first point in the first talent, they can stand on their own. For example Faerie Light is fine, the other talents of the same tree just makes it better.

Bereavement is underwhelming. To really get its full potential requires a investment in all 4 talents and heavy investment of points in multiple talents. Perhaps in combination with Silverlight it's damage would be an improvement, but you are already point starved as it is.
Looking only at the first two talents of the tree; To really get the most out of Cocytus, you will need to be at half life or less. Even then the damage is unimpressive. And with Scorn, to get the most benefit (damage and cooldown), you will need to be inflicted with detrimental effect. The more, the better. Also when you invest more points (3 and 5), you will get the bang out of your buck.
It is the 3rd and 4th, that makes Bereavement promising. Vendetta - The effect of saving you with 1 life point is good. And also afterwards then gaining life is very useful, especially in the "decreasing Caprise" state. With Sheer Cold, Cocytus can become an AOE. However the best effect is when you kill an opponent, Cocytus' cooldown is reset. allowing you to spam Cocytus.

Bereavement has too many terms and conditions to to make it useful. Caprise needs to decrease. You need to be at half life. Either you must be inflicted with several negative effects or you must kill the enemy in one go (cooldowns vs refresh). Lethal damage will make it so you survive one life and the effect ends. Cocytus is not something you can spam or will use often.
Instead of waiting for the conditions of Cocytus, it is must safer to switch to the positve Caprise state; put down a shield, use a healing atc.. Waiting until you are at half life with possibly other dangerous deliberating effects, is too high risk.

In conclusion while Bereavement's rewards are considerable due to 3rd and 4th talent, it is still a very high risk tree. Other advanced trees do not have such restrictions to make them useful.

It's not making you faster, it's giving you part of a turn. It won't appear on your status bar because it's not a status; it's a one-off event that gives you part of a turn. It's probably working fine.

This is correct :) it might be a bit hard to notice since the cold phase already has boosted spell speed but you should see that you get a couple "free" turns after blasting something with a lot of debuffs.

Re: [1.7.0] Faetouched Collection v1.3.0 "Mistbound Mistcellany"

#53 Post by Mr Frog »

Finally, a new update! The long-fated Moonchild rework, a new unlockable (spooky!) talent category for Wyrmic, and an assortment of other fun little odds and ends! Have fun everyone!

Changes for v1.3.0 "Mistbound Mistcellany":
Added the new unlockable Fae-Drake Aspect for Wyrmics! Wreak sparkly death upon your pitiful foes! The unlock condition is very simple: find and slay a greater fae-wyrm!
Added 6 new random enemy mobs to fight: pixies and pixie madams, a whole family of fae-drakes, and something nasty and gooey from the depths of Eyal!
Added 6 new fixedarts to find on your adventures! They are mostly Charmed and Moonchild oriented, but one is a bit special.
Added a random lore drop! 2.8k words, estimated reading time 10 minutes.
Fey Kiss, at talent level 3 and higher, now passively grants 30% damage reduction and 50% global speed whenever your Caprice reverses, lasting until the start of your next turn. This will make inopportune Caprice shifts much less deadly, and sometimes even advantageous if leveraged properly!
Bitter Cold, in addition to its existing effect, now adds a small chance for all damage instances to inflict a new magical debuff, "Chilled", which immobilises a target and halves their damage until after they next act. The chance increases the more you damage a target before they can move, rewarding the aggressive burst play Cold is defined by!
Bitter Cold's damage increase has been reduced slightly (120%-150% > 110%-135%) to account for its increased value, particularly at TL 1
Swapped Vendetta and Scorn's positions in the Bereavement tree, as Vendetta is part of the tree's core experience and so placing it behind a luxury effect isn't very sensible
Vendetta is now banned on NPC's because immortal enemies are annoying and immortality that specifically triggers off a hyper nuke spell is a crime against (Dark)God
Sheer Cold's refresh-on-kill has been moved to Cocytus's base talent
Increased Shackle's base slow factor (10%-20% -> 15%-25%) to make it a bit more meaningful especially early on
Reduced Sympathy's radius to 2 to make it more controllable
Added another particle effect to Shrouded Heart to show Sympathy's radius (if you know it)
Titania and the Old Maid are now both weak to antimagic as one would expect
Added a setting to disable the Faewild's overlay effect

E: aand someone already found an oopsie lmao

Changes for v1.3.1:
Titania's Whisper has a proper cooldown again (oops!)

Thank you for the update.

Eager to use and experience the change on Coctylus and cold abilities; it makes them more competitive than compared to the light abilities.

As for the change on Fey Kiss, although seeing it on the tooltip, i dont see any real effect in the gameplay; no damage reduction nor global speed increase. I don't see change in status nor status icons. Maybe this is a bug?

Also it happened to me one time that Old Maid didnt appear. If it occurs more frequently then I will mention it in this thread.

Ah, the Fey Kiss buff disappears when your next turn begins, so you won't see it in your HUD unless your Caprice reverses due to an Instant spell. You can see it on Moonchild enemies, and it does very much make your next turn come faster and reduces damage you take in the meantime. It occurred to me that the buff being removed before the player next acted would be confusing, and considered leaving the buff active superficially just so the player could see it, but decided that might be even more confusing... Oh well!

Changes for v1.3.2:
Added a splash screen!
The Frog Form debuff inflicted by Mr. Hoppy is now magical and can thus be cleansed (Frog Form inflicted by the Wyrd is unchanged)
Glittering Shards's impalement damage will now steadily diminish as it is triggered more than 24 times in a single round (blame mannendake)
The entire Bereavement tree is now disabled on NPCs

Got the blinking black screen in the Bearscape, this is the only mod specifically cited though I naturally can't rule out oddball mod conflicts.

(still love the mod though, keep up the great work! Caprice is a very interesting resource mechanically.)

Finished a game as a Ghoul Moonchild, and I just wanted to say, that's a fun combo (plus I got some of the lore and the Fae Drake unlock that I wasn't in last time I played). Sadly, you do miss out on the bonus stuff since Ghoul, but such is life.

Moonchild gets Silly DPS by late game (especially when you end up with like +200% cold damage). Shockingly, Aeryn actually did survive the last fight, despite me having all the Prismlight talents (them having friendlyfire can make exploding your allies very easy).

It would be nice if Heartrime didn't increase damage dealt to yourself, Wyrd damage can count as self damage and when you get to +100% damage it Kind Of Hurts (plus attacking your own ice block can become Very Dangerous).

Anywho, delightful to play again, I liked the "Memoir of a Faerie Chaser" lore quite a bit, and I liked the splash screen, that wasn't in last time I played either.

Edit: Since I was playing Wanderer and happened to notice this, it is slightly annoying that the "Queen's Whim" tree requires having Caprice but makes no note of this. If you don't have a Caprice pool, the effects never trigger, so on a Wanderer it looks like it does something, but usually won't actually have any effect (plenty of Wanderer trees are dead anyways, but it would be nice to know so it doesn't just seem like it's broken).
Faint Hope is very, very appreciable though.
