Possibilities include
*Blood on the floor after a kill similar to DoomRL. May or may not disappear after a while. Different monster types may give different colors.
*Corpses on the ground after a kill. More difficult, would require new graphic icons for non-ASCII versions.
*Special gore graphic effects after a critical hit/death like blood/body parts flying around. Also more difficult.
