Is it possible to use the current version in b32?

If so, how do you install it?

You haven't, by chance, found a way to do it have you? It works in svn, so I've been working around it by running the svn version at the revision noted in the sticky thread.

I found out how. Pretty straightforward. Just open the tome-3.9.34.team file (or whatever the current version is) in \game\modules using whatever unzip program you want, then put the oldrpg directory in \data\gfx as you would before, and save the updated zip file.

Thank you! I could have sworn that I tried that before, but until I did it exactly as you described it didn't work for me. I had tried just simply adding the oldrpg directory to the data/gfx folder of the archive, figuring that that should be enough to work, but for some reason I had to do the whole extraction/recompression thing before it would be recognized.

Put this in your tome\game folder and you don't have to unzip the module :)

One thing I recommend doing:

Make a copy of the game's Shockbolt folder.

Delete the 'player' subfolder in that copy. (It won't work with what we're going to do.)

Then, take the oldRPG folder and copy-paste it over your copy of the shockbolt folder, choosing to overwrite files.

This will produce a combined tileset where Shockbolt tiles are used for things that are missing a tile in oldRPG -- there are a few new things like that. Obviously it sometimes results in things that look slightly out of place, but it's better than them not having a tile at all.

Much appreciated. I'd rather that some of the tiles look out of place than wondering where to go because a portal tile is missing or being blocked by a tileless obstacle.

CUTE!

As for addon, for you it'll be very easy since the game already can detect your tileset, just have an addon with the init file, and an overload fodler which contains data/gfx/oldrpg/ and it should be fine :)

OK!

Here's a test zip. Kind of a release I guess since there's a lot of new stuff. Let's called it beta 3.95 ;)

-link removed- new version!

New Install Directions!

1. Extract to your t-engine\game\addons\ folder
2. Should end up with a folder called tome-oldrpg
3. Load a character in ToME
4. Choose Graphic Mode - Style - Old RPG

New Things

- stores should all have a tile
- new jungle set / swamp trees / bamboo (not finished)
- custom UI by default. new icons, wooden finish, darker in general. uses alot of assets from the original UI
- new inventory icons for the brand new inventory screen (great work guys!)
- 65 edited talent icons. try a reaver if you wanna see them!
- gravestones for the graveyard
- a few additions to the player doll tiles (more female clothing mostly)
- some (alot) shockbolt placeholders for missing tiles (temporarily!).

Anything else missing should have ASCII in its place thanks to the new beta!

PS - The new beta owns my bones! Awesome work

Thanks for checking it out Rec! Yea unfortunately the pack is still unfinished, so you might see some out of place stuff. I'm working hard to get everything done, but having some difficulty finding the time. Biggest problem is a total lack of a game plan when I go at it. Just kinda attack the tiles at random and try to dwindle down the numbers.

There's still over a thousand tiles left to finish up, and I'm working with pre-existing art assets! Shockbolt, on the other hand, deserves the utmost respect for his work. He hand paints every single tile in the game (over 4,000 tiles and counting), and does it seemingly without even trying... in his spare time. I'm just copy/pasting/resizing and coloring mostly, at half the resolution he works at. It seriously blows my mind how prolific the man is, and inspires me to keep trudging along with this pack. Kudos Shockbolt!

DarkGod, your support has been invaluable thus far. I've seen alot of open source game communities, and this one ranks waay up there. You truly "get it" when it comes to game design and collaboration among team members. Every beta is a significant improvement over the last, with relatively few broken things in between that always get patched very quickly. Donations are climbing, people are jumping on the bandwagon to help out, and some seriously talented people are just showing up at the door willing to work for free. You're willing to work with guys like me who are just starting out, and are willing to go through great pains to make it easier for the new guys. These are great traits in a team leader and should take you far if you decide to form a company at some point in time.

To all the others around here who have been contributing around here, keep it up!

Elvisman - Wow! Everything sounds great, it must feel awesome to have your work in the game so fast!
Talent Icon Committee - Holy crap! 700 icons in 4 days?!
magelike - Nice eye for gameplay touches!

So... I have an 85 MB replacement music pack I can upload if anyone is interested. I believe it fits with Old RPG very well, but I'm not sure on some of the copyrights on a few songs. Most of the music pack is fan remade / remixed video game music which is ok to distribute. The rest is grey area but not too bad since the songs are readily available at many places on the internet already. I'm not making any profit on these, and they aren't for sale anywhere anyway, so I guess download away?
