So, it's been a while since I've updated the add-on, so I'm going to do these runs a little more frequently, as well as biting off a little bit more than usual. I suspect 4-5 more sessions and it should be concluded (which is maybe 3-4 more days).

I hate to keep you all waiting-- But I absolutely want Fire Drake to be in a completely playable state-- It's been somewhat broken for a long time now, so I'd like to finally see it in working order.

Anywho, here's the update on the Fire Drake bubble run-- It's a big one this time:
*** Alright! I'm getting pretty excited now-- Eager even! This is a good point in the game, and I can't wait to move forward with this-- So let's get started!

*** Remark: At this point, there's going to be a few spoilers-- Both for "OoTS" and "ToME", so I'm going to be a lot more "lightweight" with my explanations-- Especially the names of places, people, and/or locations.

~ I head out of Dreadfell... "Things" happen. For reference, "I won", hehehe...

~ Much conversation later-- I am engaged in combat against myself! Whoa!
*** Bug (fixed): The "helpers" didn't have the correct images.

- ... After MUCH bumping (me and my Drakelings are unfortunately "small", so it took A LOT more than usual), the fight is done, and "that" part of the game begins.

[REKNOR]
- Nothing on floor 1.

- Floor 2 has an escort.
- After much trouble, I bring them back safely.

- Oh! A "Fearfire Mantle"! Excellent!
*** Thoughts: The more I stack up on Fire Resistance, the more I start to regret the points I put into "Dragon Scales". My character already has WELL over 100% Fire Resistance (currently 137%, in fact). Maybe "Fire Drake" needs some sort of ability that scales on Fire Resistance...?

- Three Pedestals... Sure, let's do this again!

- Floor 3 presents a rather mean Reaver Orcish Assassin unique! WOW!! I've never seen so many DOTs on an actor at one time-- And I've played A LOT of Hydra!

- Woot! Mummified Egg-Sac! More helpers! Now I can wear the Rat-Lich skull, the Choker of Dread, and use this... To summon a small army at will!

- Last floor... Encounter with Golbug... Absolute joke. I'm PRETTY convinced now that Fire Drake has been overtuned, and will require EXTENSIVE nerfing after this run-- Particularly, "Torrential Blaze" is FAR too strong, and is eliminating ALL difficulty this class presents.

[UNREMARKABLE CAVE]
- It is unremarkable, indeed.

*** A LOT OF PLOT STUFF LATER...

~ I'm going to do the "Spider" quest first, because this one caps at Lv30. I won't get much EXP unless I do it now!
$$$ [42560/50000]

[ARDHUNGOL]
- Zone is mostly unremarkable-- However, I encounter a Paradox Mage who uses Banish, separating me from my Drakelings. It causes a bit of a scare, but fortunately, I manage to reconvene before anything bad happens. Whew!

- Found a second "quiet" torque. Gave the old one to "Drenng", so now he can cast "Silence" as well!

- Doombringer Lisaldavea sends me to Fearscape. I send myself right back. (<3 Aura of Silence)

- "Ungole" is no problem. (when is it ever?)

[Vor Armory]
$$$ [39426/50000]
- The biggest issue I have with this zone is being frozen by cryomancers... But then again, what character DOESN'T have this problem? As such, I raise "Blazing Body" to 5/5 to counteract this. This is honestly not the best talent in the world, and its purpose is VERY niche-- But when it DOES work, it works aplenty!
- Also, I finally bring "Aura of Silence" up to Talent Level 4. It was already VERY useful at Talent Level 1... It's going to be absurd now!

- "Brittle Ooze" are hilariously easy to deal with if you use "Renewing Flames" on them. They separate-- And the next thing you know, they've caused 800+ damage to each other via schisms.

- Interesting-- I didn't realize there was another status effect subtype called "Ice". Let's add THAT to what "Blazing Body" can trigger upon!

*** IMPLEMENTATION: "Blazing Body" now triggers on "Ice" effects as well (not just "cold")
- Save and restart...

- Alright! It works! The "Wet" effect caused by "Biting Gale" runes also gets blocked by "Blazing Body"-- Which is QUITE powerful!

- Floor 1 is pretty trivial.

- Alright, floor 2-- Everything is mostly easy to deal with-- Especially since they're all simply being silenced, heheheh...

- It's time for the BIG room. This is normally a hard place-- But let's see how it goes, hm?

- ... Okay, so. A LOT of nonsense happens here. Particularly, the kind of stuff that SHOULD lead to a character's IMMEDIATE death. For 90% of the time, I was stunned and unable to do anything. At one point, one of my Drakelings even went into anti-death. Then, the worst thing possible happened: I took a step-- And about 10 turns passed (because my movement speed was absurdly low at the time). Just when I was CERTAIN that my Drakelings were DEFINITELY dead... Everyone suddenly died, and all my Drakelings were fine. The only one left was Warmaster Gnarg. I HONESTLY can't say for certain what happened in this situation, whether it was extreme luck, or VERY well-crafted Drakelings-- But one thing I CAN say for certain: I don't feel like I should have survived this, and that the ABSURD durability of my Drakelings is mostly to attribute to this. This is a sure sign that this requires nerfing... My TERRIBLE, terrible gameplay SHOULD NOT have been rewarded like this with a no-consequence success. Shame on me... Shame!

- ... Hmmm... Upon closer inspection, my Drakelings might have leveled up during the fight. Ugh... I have NO clue... Oh well, moving on.

- Teleportation trap! WHOAAA! You should have seen how fast those Drakelings are moving with the "Parental Bond" bonus + "Low Flight" hahaha... They really hauled butt over to me!

- *shifty eyes* ... So... There's only one thing left to do in this level...

["PURE INSANITY"]
- Positioning is EXTREMELY key to pull this off effectively! The trick is to "alarm" the denizens WITHOUT being seen! You can do this EASILY by summoning a throw-away NPC of some sort-- IE: My spiders or a vampire. However, the TRUE issue is keeping my Drakelings out of trouble while I do so. I will probably need to eat a "Movement Infusion" to ensure this goes as well as possible.

- DOORBELL PRANK!! I summon up a bunch of spiders and rats and vampires... Then, I open the door, and IMMEDIATELY "Glide" out of line of sight. This makes them go ABSOLUTELY nuts! I flee to the very bottom right of the zone, hoping none of them locate me.

- So, I keep burning skills, trying to waste as much time as possible. I use "Rod of Recall", but cancel it, allowing me to rest for about 200+ turns. Sheesh... The slow down this is causing! Those guys are REALLY rampaging, hahaha...

- 1000 or so turns later, I decide to peek my head out. If they have not destroyed each other yet, they will be VERY scattered about this zone. Every twist and every turn can be dangerous-- But that's what "Predation" is for, after all!

- Wuh-oh. One found me-- a Level 89 one too.
- First thing I do is "Glide" past it so that my Drakelings are OPPOSITE of this monster. After that, all I can do is try to withstand this punishment as best as I can... Which I have a feeling won't be for very long.
- UH-OH! Friends have shown up-- And they manage to Flame Shock (stun) me! This is only getting worse and worse, hahaha...
- Thankfully, VERY good positioning is causing my Drakelings to deal fire damage to me-- Which is making my "Boldly and Fiercely" count increase A LOT. My fire damage and penetration is getting VERY nasty now!
- The pals somehow Flame Shock me again (REALLY, I despise that this stun works on fire-immune targets, HONESTLY)
- Situation is getting dire... Do I push the "oh shit" button yet...? For the sake of science, let's see where this goes...

%%% OH... I get killed by what looks like a BUG... The wyrm uses "Wing Buffet"-- But it somehow hits and knocks me back 3 times, dealing 3 separate instances of damage (and thus, blowing me up INSTANTLY).
*** ToME Bug: After inspecting the talent itself, I have INDEED identified exactly how it happened: At Talent Level 9, "Wing Buffet" has a radius of 7, and knocks back 3 tiles. If I am standing right in front of it, I will get struck and knocked back THREE times-- Ranges 1, 4, and 7-- Which I am PRETTY certain is an unintended side effect of knockback talents (I had to eliminate this behavior from MANY of my own knockback talents in "OoTS"). Now, I'm not sure if this is due to my own modifications-- So I wouldn't mind if someone else tried out this scenario themselves. Note that this ONLY happens on the LEFT side ("Projections" always scan from right to left from what I can tell).

- Either way, this was a bittersweet end for this "adventure" I took... I don't think I'm going to try it again-- At least, not right now, hahaha... It's a completely optional "challenge" vault anyways! However, if the friends didn't get involved, this would have been VERY manageable... Errrm, I think.

*** Game reloaded-- Back to life, I DON'T open the vault this time. Instead, I leave-- And we're off to Briagh's Lair.
$$$ [37712/50000]

[BRIAGH'S LAIR]
- Good thing I'm part Sand Drake, or else I might have broken a sweat!

*** ToME Bug: Hm. I don't think you're supposed to be able to damage entities in the Wilderness... And yet, this "Fearfire Mantle" is hitting an Orcish Patrol for 0 Fire damage each turn... INTERESTING!

- Found a "Duathedlen Heart" in a random encounter. This could come handy...

- These patrols... Ugh!

*** LOTS MORE PLOT LATER!!

- I'm hoooooooome! Didn't take very long at all!
$$$ [36180/50000]

*** Let's call it there. There will be A LOT to do-- But I'm a bit bushed! I'll deal with all of that... Next time.

Conclusions: Fire Drake ("Fiery Breath" + Mind Power focus) continues to be terribly powerful-- There has been VERY little that stands in its way. I'll need to, somehow, present more risks to this playstyle, since it's an extremely safe way to play ("damage + healing" in one package).

Two for one special today!
I felt in the mood to continue this run even further. In this session, I take on all the back-up guardians. Here you go!

Fire Drake bubble run:
*** Another session (in the same day!). I'm getting close to "a certain part in the game", and I bet some of you are itching to see how I handle it. To be honest... I am too!
~ However, first things first-- I'd like to tackle each of the back-up guardians. Sometimes, they drop EXCELLENT artifacts, and there's no way I could say no to something like that!

[SCINTILLATING CAVES]

- "That crystal" gets silenced, and it isn't much of a fight.
*** BUG: The "Spotting" that Drakelings can cause remains on the boss, even AFTER it teleports, causing me to BRIEFLY have vision of it, despite it being nowhere near me or my Drakelings. Odd interaction...

- I've hit Level 36-- I'm going to use my "last" category point on "Heatstroke". I've wanted to experiment with this talent tree for AGES, and the idea of having EVEN MORE Mind-based fire damage (and healing)... Simply makes me tingle with excitement~~
*** BUG: ... Oh. Upon examining the code, this tree doesn't scale on anything AT ALL. WELL, that's not right... It needs to scale on SOMETHING! However, from what I've seen so far, Fire Drake doesn't need MORE Mind Power scaling... Oh well, let's see how strong it is with mind power anyways...

*** IMPLEMENTATION: "Heatstroke" talent damage now scales on "Mind Power" (meaning the non-mindpower damage is effectively reduced!)
*** Examination:
Boil In Flames (damage) = 13 ~ 26
Burning Coils (damage) = 41 ~ 73
Inferno (damage) = 18 ~ 45

*** After Mind Power implementation (I have 59 Mind Power atm)

Boil In Flames (damage) = 9 ~ 19
Burning Coils (damage) = 29 ~ 61
Inferno (damage) = 16 ~ 33

*** Ouch! Looks like I've nerfed it. If we assume "50 Mind Power" is the point where we should see some nice damage gains, I'll need to increase all damage values by about 50%. I can fine-tune this later-- But for now, let's settle with that.
***************************

*** IMPLEMENTATION: In light of the prior changes, "Heatstroke" damage has generally been increased by 50% (meaning a character with 100 Mind Power is now dealing 50% more damage than before, while one at 0 Mind Power is doing around 50% less)

- Messing around with the talents a bit, "Inferno" DOES, indeed, set my Drakelings on fire-- Absolutely washing them over with my hot, fiery love (wat? ummm...)-- AHEM! It's HEALING them, I mean.

- Save, restart... Off we go to the next boss!

[THE MAZE]

- I never have ANY clue where the boss is going to spawn when the zone gets warped by the "demon" version...

- Found it! 2nd floor. Let's try out these new "Heatstroke" talents!

- Wow. After a good "Aura of Silence", ALL of its sustains break, and it becomes pretty trivial. I might need to tune this talent back a bit... I MAY have gone a bit buff-crazy after "a certain incident", hehehe...

[OLD FOREST]

- This boss tends to be super easy-- ESPECIALLY if you've got a steady pace of healing! However, it is the HIGHEST level one, so I'm actually putting A LOT of my EXP to waste (you can get EXP from anything 7 levels lower than you-- But it's always the same amount)

- Also: WHOA... I have 21 stat points I didn't even remember I could use... You KNOW a class is OP when you forget to assign your level-up points and don't even notice... SIGH.

- I spend the rest of my points in "Turn Up The Heat" (stiffle chance 10% --> 30%). Considering HOW MUCH sustained fire damage I have, this talent is going to be HORRENDOUSLY effective!

- ... Ugh... Now where is this boss...
- Found him! OH SNAP(wood)!! My "Fearfire Mantle" is triggering "Turn Up The Heat" as well, hahaha!

- MAN. That is A LOT of Fire-based map effects, hahaha... There's "Consuming Fire", several sets of "Renewing Flames", "Fearfire Mantle", "Heatstroke", "Inferno", "Boil In Flames", "Planar Beacon" teleport effect, VARIOUS "Admix Fire" carpets, "Burning Glob" patches-- This is a COMPLETE mess!!
*** Image below

- This tree was already burned down once-- And now, it's been reduced to absolute ASH. Poor thing...

- Alright, my Drakelings have learned EVERY talent possible in Breath/Wing trees. However, it is impossible to turn them into "Claw" stylists, because it would require TWO style shifts (and they are all currently "ClawlesS"). At best, I can make them into some sort of hybrid style. Here's a diagram:

Code: Select all

	 !W---B
	 / / \
	C---G !C
	 \ \ /
	 !B---W

The center is "Generalist", the left is "Claw", the right is "No Claw". The rest you can probably figure out yourself.
	- A "Generalist" Drakeling can only shift by ONE step, and they must shift towards 1 of 4 things: Claw, Breath, Wing, or General (don't move).
	- Shifts will ALWAYS avoid "Generalist" UNLESS it's contradicting its current style ("Claw" --> "No Claw" = "Generalist")
	- The lines represent "where" you're allowed to move. For a "Claw" to become "No Claw", they would need to shift to "Generalist", then ["Breath" --> "Wing"] or ["Wing" --> "Breath"]

	The rest should be self-explanatory.

[REKNOR]

- This boss can be EXTREMELY scary due to its special "one-hit-kill" combo. However, thanks to "Aura of Silence", I SHOULD be able to mitigate the potential damage this can cause... (last time, I had an INSTANT Drakeling fatality because it dealt something like 2840 damage-- Disgusting!)

- ... It's right at the door. This makes the message sound sorta silly now...
- I'm getting a bit scared for the health of my Drakelings, so I push myself into the front and take on some of the diseases. Sheesh! 28 turns?? *turns on "Nature Hardened"* This is gonna hurt...

- Managed to stun him-- But he didn't even get a chance to use anything! Thank goodness...

[DAIKARA]

- INTERESTINGLY, this guy DOES, in fact, have "Dragon Telepathy", and me and my Drakelings happen to be... Well, dragons. I've always wondered if he could spot me before I arrived, so for some fun (and science), I turn on "Predation" and set the duration to 9000 (it's a bit of cheating, but I ALREADY know he's there, and I'm losing ALL of my Mind Power by doing this anyways, hehehe).

*** ToME Bug: VERY INTERESTING! This fellow (who DOES, in fact, have telepathy of "Dragons") DOES NOT see me! Here I stand on the other side of a wall, and he is NONE the wiser! Looks like the AI needs some support for "telepathy" spotting, heheheh...
*** Image below

- Turns out he's not a very good dragonslayer. With a bit of "Spydric Poison" (4 doses, in fact), me and my Drakelings simply sit back and take potshots at him until he gives in. I can only imagine the humiliated shame on his face as he sits there, legs no longer functioning, just getting (fire) stoned to death by a fire drake and her 3 children. I would honestly quit dragon-slaying after that if I were him.

[DREADFELL]

- Here's an easy one! This boss primarily uses Fire to fight-- And he DOES, in fact, have TONS of Fire Penetration-- But this means absolutely NOTHING against my "Loving" Drakelings, whom each have fire "Affinity"-- And then, there's ME who has "Boldly and Fiercely". This should be an absolute joke.

- ... Oh shoot. He has 100% Fire Resistance. AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

- (10 Minutes later) "RESURRECTION!!" AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

- (Another 10 minutes later) Whew! This has been sort of silly, but I don't think it's a big deal really. This enemy happens to enjoy A LOT of teleportation, and uses many stuns. His most dangerous moments was when he used "Curse of Death"-- But again, it was many timely "Aura of Silence" that washed this debuff away and made me and my Drakelings safe. All and all: No problem!

[KOR'PUL]

- Let's deal with this ghost already. It has MANY curses and ice spells-- But thanks to "Blazing Body", I don't really have to worry about this. All of my fire damage (harmlessly) thaws out my Drakelings too, so everything should be okay!

- Ah-ha! THIS spellcaster is wearing "Vox" and CANNOT be silenced! Maybe, this time, a mage will put up a fight!

- Pretty easy-- It can't handle the enormous amount of AoE healing I'm creating for my Drakelings!

[SANDWORM LAIR]

- I have FREQUENTLY heard about an error that occurs when returning to this zone after earlier events. I pray I have fixed it by now...

- There it is! The big baddie! Let's go!

- A completely trivial fight! Drenng even silenced it at one point.
- Oh? What's this stuff? *drinks it* [STR +1, DEX +2, MAG -2, WIL +3, CUN +6, CON -1] Whoa... That's some strong stuff!

- No errors at all! EXCELLENT!

[TROLLMIRE]

- This guy scares me. However, in the past, I found out something EXTREMELY interesting that makes this fight utterly trivial...

- BAMF!! "Irresistible Sun" is, IN FACT, a "Magical" effect, and "Aura of Silence" completely removes it. This opponent's trump card is utterly trumped, and the rest of the fight is pretty much a joke.

- On a hilarious note, "Boil In Flames" actually burns "Hate" resources-- So I am, indeed, engulfing him with love-- My painful, burning, fiery love.
- (X_X) dead. Very dead.

*** Looks like EVERYTHING went exceedingly well. Most of the back-up guardians couldn't handle the sheer fire power (no pun intended) that Fire Drake boasts. This is quite concerning, really! It's going to need more weaknesses... And a good start is making "Drakelings" a little bit flimsier...

Here's the next run-- This one SHOULD be a favorite, since I've heard A LOT of complaints about this section of the game. Let's see how well *I* handle this!
Update on Fire Drake bubble run:
*** In it again. I'll be heading to a place of MUCH controversy-- A few have voiced that the "gimmick" of this place is unreasonable and/or unfair... So, naturally, it's time for me to test the waters and determine if what I made is truly an unfit challenge... Although, let's be serious: I've already done this over 10 times now! I have a lot of experience and know what to do and how to prepare for it.

~ So, off I go to Last Hope to get started.

*** Now, NOTE! This branches into TWO separate zones: the "Fearscape" and "Telmur, Tower of Telos". For the sake of inviting absolute chaos, I'm going to do "Telmur" (even though the former is the most sensible for a Fire Drake character). This should be fun.

[TELMUR - FLOOR 1]
- Lovely. The stairs are a cluttered mess, and ALL of my Drakelings got separated. My only option to prevent Isovau (who is currently on the other side of a mob of enemies) from getting absolutely massacred is to use a nice AoE talent and GRAB the enemies' attention! Remember: If an actor has NO target, damaging them causes them to attack you-- And thus, Isovau is going to be completely ignored!

- No problem! Oh... ANOTHER Fire Drake Aspect/Lumbering Beast amulet... That's a total of x0.55 proficiency now if I started!

[TELMUR - FLOOR 2]
- Another nasty start. I never did like this place to be honest...

- Found a "Tree of Life". That could be helpful.

- HI THERE BLINKWYRM! You are my absolute FAVORITE enemy/monster in the game! You are going to get a VERY cool role in one of my future add-on ideas, hehehe...

[TELMUR - FLOOR 3]
- ... I don't usually do this area... So I don't remember what floor the boss is in... I'm certain this is going to get me ambushed rather badly...

[TELMUR - FLOOR 4]
- These clusters are really gross... Ugh!

[TELMUR - FLOOR 5]
- Oh shoot-- There's Telos... I wasn't ready at all, hahaha...

- Telos resists both my silencing torque and my "Aura of Silence". Cheeky guy... This might be rough.
- Evaluating the situation carefully, the best thing I can do is hide behind my Drakelings and avoid getting stunned. A stun will mean the end for me and my Drakelings...
*** BUG: Also, NOT a great time to notice this, but "Heatstroke" doesn't refresh when you use stairs! BAD time to notice this bug!

- A tough, STURDY defense! We simply sit in the corner, awaiting his arrival and promptly counter-attacking! 10 turns have passed, and both my silences are available again-- "Aura of Silence" fails to silence-- But my "Silence" targetted hits him dead on! This mage is toast!
- Turns out Telos wasn't nearly as bad as I thought he'd be! At the end of the day, he was just another mage enemy. Of course, "Blazing Body" has really been a WONDERFUL investment so far, heh...

Code: Select all

*** BUT THIS IS ONLY ONE REALITY OF MANY... NOW, LET US EXPLORE THE ALTERNATIVE SCENARIO-- THE OTHER "COULD HAVE BEEN" FOR THIS NOBLE DRAGON-ADVENTURE...

*** A strange flash of knowledge from an alternate timeline warns me that my "Heatstroke" talent is misfunctioning! ... That is to say-- Time for a quick fix!

*** IMPLEMENTATION: "Heatstroke" now automatically refreshes itself upon entering a new zone.
*** EXAMINATION: I'm not 100% sure if the old map effect correctly deletes itself, possibly leading to the stackage of indefinite "Heatstroke" effects. Needs some experimentation.
*** EXAMINATION: I'm not 100% sure if this "reactivation" is actually using a turn or not. I have defined it NOT to, but again, this needs some experimentation...

- I refuse to hand over the orb. *PLOT STUFF ENSUES*

*** NOTICE + ToME BUG: I have GLITCHED OUT my World Map (this happens if you reload the game to a zone you weren't previously in-- IE: "Telmur" --> "Last Hope"). This means A LOT of locations are no longer visible, so I will need to use some "Developer Hax" to teleport myself into certain places (such as "Reknor"). DO NOT be alarmed! Everything is under control!

*** BUG: You have to click "Orb of Many Ways" twice if you use it during this scenario (the first use does nothing)... That's a bug-- Probably due to the way I handled my overloaded events. I'll need to look into this...

[FEARSCAPE]
- WHOA!! And suddenly, I've gone to hell! ... Oooo... It's kinda cozy here. Maybe I'll raise a family of demonic dragons! I bet Fearscape can use a few of those!

- You would think with all the time these demons spend in "Hell Town", they'd be a little bit more resistant to fire, heheheh...

- Isovau's mind surges with critical power! "Torrential Blaze" deals 400 Fire damage! ... Not bad at all, my daughter!

- I've been VERY fortunate! Not a single boss spawn yet-- And I've found our trip home! Whew... I think everything's going to be okay!

- "Isovau, I'm going to need the Summertide Phial; It's very dark here..." / *reluctantly reaches for it* "... This?" / "Yes, that's the one. Bring it here."
*** BUG: Whoa... Don't try to "Use" an item when you're inside a Drakeling's equipment dialogue... *sigh*... I KNEW there would be problems with this...

- The boss gets silenced-- No more teleporting! Dead.

- OH! Upon closer inspection, I just realized I haven't given any of my Drakelings Decorations yet, hahaha... My god. I'll give them each 2 Emeralds for some good luck~~

- Did a quick clean up-- We're out of here!

*** And now, the moment of truth: THIS segment of the game.

[TANNEN'S TOWER - FLOOR 1]
- First things first, mess up those golems! There are two in this room, but I have a VERY powerful CC now!
- Also, thanks to choosing "Sand Drake Scales", my Drakelings are already super-resistant to Darkness damage anyways, SO, let's have some fun and GO NUTS!! *invests ALL the points into Scales*

- The "Rainbow" room is sort of dangerous, so we're going to hide at the corner of the door and wait for them to "trickle" in, killing them one-by-one. No problem whatsoever!

- The "Dark" room is a problem too. The best way I find to deal with this room is to flood it with AoEs and just wait it out.
- Although, one guy uses "Battle Call", so it seems I'll have to do this the hard way, hahaha...

- The "Spirit" room is pretty easy too. Same procedure: Flood with AoEs, wait for them to trickle out.
- It's VERY nice to have Darkness damage at my disposal now! Anything fire-resistant is simply met with a few dark blasts instead!

[FLOOR 2]
- Thankfully, these Drakelings still have the air-breathing mechanisms, so this section isn't quite nightmarish as it SHOULD be.
*** Remark: HOWEVER, if a player DOES NOT have water-breathing gear for their Drakelings, this segment is actually LITERALLY impossible to do without getting them killed. I might need to think of an "alternative" way of handling this in the future... I may even consider removing their necessity to breathe altogether-- But that's only a drastic measure.
*** Thought: Perhaps I'll just make it so that becoming "Corrupted" completely removes your necessity to breathe... That'd be pretty cool! What do you think of that, guys?

[FLOOR 3]
- Zzzzzzzzz... Zzzzzzzzz...

[FLOOR 4]
- *WAKES UP* Huh, wha?? Oh... Right, boss level.

*** Bug: CONFIRMED! "Heatstroke" WAS, in fact, using up a turn when it reactivated itself (the "boss" would sucker punch me AS SOON as I entered the room, even though I was still in a dialogue box). Time to fix this...
*** IMPLEMENTED: Discovered a PROJECT-WIDE syntax error that was causing force-used talents to errornously consume a turn (particularly, "Slyness"-- But this is instant-use). It's "ignore_energy", not "no_energy", guys... BAH!

- Reload... Let's try that again.

- God damn. It has "Sovereign's Domain", so I can't see my Drakelings AT ALL! This is going to be VERY clumsy now...

- ... Well, THAT was unnecessarily problematic, hahaha... Thanks to CONSTANTLY being blind-raged, I spent a good deal of the fight SEPARATED from my Drakelings-- And thusly, I QUICKLY ran out of Equilibrium (due to not being able to use "Renewing Flames" to restore it). Other than that, the fight consisted MOSTLY of me throwing large AoEs all over the place and HOPING I was hitting/healing my Drakelings with them-- Which I was! It turns out all their spammy emotes made it easy to tell where they were: "Mother! Are you hurt?"-- Oh! There you are!

*** Long story short: Easy-Peasy! An absolute cake-walk, this place! No problems at all-- Didn't even use any of my Wild Powers even ONCE!

[LAST HOPE]
- Goodbye corrupted powers... I hardly knew ye.

*** That'll do for now! Until next time guys-- I have heard A LOT of complaints about this place, but I've found no troubles with it whatsoever! Maybe "Hydra" or "Ritch" has a different experience here-- But from what I've seen, "Wild Powers" are mostly unnecessary in this zone

*** ... Well... I guess there's ONE problem here...
*** (known) bug: If you die in Tannen's Tower, the "Blighted Link" does not refresh itself. This also happens in "Heart of Gloom", where "Gloom Madness/Sleepiness" will not refresh itself either. I'm still trying to figure out how to implement a "continous" effect, sort of like zone effects that already exist in the game...

*** Anywho, peace! Thanks for reading this and tuning in! More... Next time.

PS: It seems I've reached the "climax" of this run-- That is, I've gathered a conclusion about something both I and others have been concerned about, so there is basically no point in continuing any further. If I stop now, I can post the update immediately, and everyone can get started right away with the newly-refurbished Fire Drake class. Tell me what you'd prefer-- Stop now and update, or continue the run until the end? Tell me what you think!

Now that does sound like a elegant way to deal with that situation, and some extra character to how a true corrupted Avatar will play as well!

Well I don't have anywhere enough Fire Drake experience (defintely that far into the run!) to comment on much else, but it looks like you did find quite a few minorish bugs that others would probably have missed most of the time! Also I think that it shows that a nicely built fire drake is probably a bit OP, I'd just try to ensure that the lions share of any nerfing was done in the talent scaling to try to avoid the possibility over nerfing a just starting character ;)

I'm not going to touch Fire Drake's talents or damage at all when I upload the new patch-- I'm going to allow everyone to evaluate for themselves where it is exactly that a Fire Drake's power levels do, indeed, feel too high. Me personally... I think I may have spent too much time improving Fire Drake's general numbers-- Whereas the REAL problem was with VERY subtle bugs here and there.

Hey all! I've been lurking a bit, and looking for some good mods to ad to my ToME. This one looks interesting, but since last time I installed a mod, I couldn't uninstall it, so before I do anything, I wanna know: About how stable (non-buggy) is this mod, and how balanced is it compared to vanilla?

It is VERY playable, actually! In fact, you caught me in the middle of doing my very own test run through the game, so I can ENSURE you that it's quite bug free!

However, some of the classes are currently being tuned up and checked out for bugs:
- Hydra is working QUITE excellently right now and seems to have no issues, both gameplay and bug-wise.
- Fire Drake is having a bit of trouble with the helpers ("Drakelings"), so I'll be posting an update that removes all those issues as soon as I'm done this test run.
- Ritch is having trouble "concept-wise". A lot of people don't like the way it plays, and I'm a bit dissatisfied with it too. I want to look into it, but I've got A LOT on my plate already, heh...

Your best bet for the "optimal" Odyssey of The Summoner experience is to start with Hydra-- You shouldn't encounter too much trouble at all with that class!
... Now, I should warn you about one thing: These classes play VERY differently from standard ToME classes-- Particularly, you will have to get used to not being able to use "Inscriptions"-- Which is something A LOT of people tore at me about at first-- Then everyone kinda warmed up to it, hahaha...

Addition: Oh, one more thing-- The "story/plot" is not quite finished-- But I'd say 60% of it is done-- Enough that you can still enjoy the gist of it and where it might be going.

Your daily Fire Drake bubble update:
*** Alright, so I'm getting very close to the end! However, there's A LOT of side-dungeons I need to take care of, just for the sake of saying I did it.
*** To keep things breezy, I'll just talk about the dungeon experience from now on-- No need to explain the in-between steps (for the sake of avoiding spoilers too)

[ELVEN RUINS]
- Yet ANOTHER zone with enemies that are TERRIBLY weak to fire! A shame, really!

- -- Oof! And suddenly, choked! (gotta love "Oozing Horrors"!) Use "Wingbeat" to get it off of me (my only non-breath knockback talent)!
*** Bug: Oops! Just realized NONE of "Heatstroke" is considered as "Breath"...! (something silenced me, and my "Heatstroke" talents were still usable)
*** Bug: Heh... Neither is the "Tyrant" tree...

- Found the boss. Ugh... The ice wall "Wintertide" creates is really silly. Everyone was stuck inside of it, and I had no clue what was and was not hitting anything. Trivial otherwise (he's super weak to fire)
- It dropped "Crown of Eternal Night"! If only I were a hydra... OR MAYBE... Hmmmm...
*** Bug: "Issue" associated with this object and "things" that happen. I will improve the clarity!

- Found a unique Mouse carrying a ring that gave Dragon telepathy. Yet another enemy that couldn't "telepathy" a dragon from 2 feet away, heh...

- Found another silencing torque. *gives it to Isovau*... That's 4 silences now!

[SLUDGENEST]
- Everything in this zone tends to be REALLY beefy, so I won't be able to blow anything up here as quickly as I normally do...

- Wow! You really get to cut loose in this place! Everything just keeps coming, and none of it is any good at ranged attacks, nor has stuns, hehehe...

- For fun, I decide to sit upon the exit to the next level and just see how long I can endure the onslaught of enemies.
- ... Wow! An "Eternity's Counter"! Give me ALL the flat damage reduction!!

- (20 minutes later) Decided to call it quits when I encountered a Lv50 Oozemancer that got me to a 280/turn poison... Sheesh!

- Boss-man-dude is not that tough!

*** Remark: I never actually earnestly PLAYED Oozemancer before-- But I can already tell "Mucus" is OP as hell.

*** This wraps up Maj'Eyal! Now, unfortunately, we won't be coming back here for a while (only to get Alchemist recipes finished), so time for some "East" shenanigans!

[FLOODED CAVE]
- *equips undeath-lantern* ... No more Planar Beacon... *frowns*

- SIIIIGH... This OPness is actually getting REALLY exasperating... I can literally just mash the direction buttons and face-roll my keyboard and everything just dies around me without generating even the most remote amount of concern. Of course, it might just be that these are all underwater enemies (whom tend to absolutely SUCK for the sake of not making air-management impossible)-- But honestly now... This is NOT how a roguelike experience should feel!
- ... Well, now that I think about it-- A good deal of WHY I can do this is because my Drakelings are so powerful and independent now, they tend to take care of anything that even remotely approaches me, hehehe...

*** SPOILER: Our good friend the "shark-dragon" over here has some funny things to say about a Fire Dragon that can breathe underwater, heheheh...

[TEMPLE OF CREATION]
- Because of the darkness, this place tends to suck for me. However, I doubt me (or my Drakelings) are in any kind of "real" danger...

- *More indiscriminate murder later* -- AH-HA! It's not "Murder" because I'm just an animal! I don't know better! Eh... I don't think that works for me, does it...?

- Hi Walrog! You saved me the trouble of having to kill TWO bosses to make you appear, hehehe...

- That's that... Hmpf! SOMEONE here is lying... And I'm gonna get to the bottom of it!

*** I attack "snake-dude"!

- Lots of freezing. Lots of annoying stuff-- OH GEEZ!! He Massive Blow'd Drenng through a wall and put him into anti-death! Ahahahah... REKT! Fortunately, my children aren't weaklings-- They're DRAKELINGS!! He takes it like a (dragon)man and gets right back to it.
- Dead. Not bad at all! Slasul gave me a bit of a time, but by using most of my clever tricks, he doesn't quite threaten me all that much. Admittedly, he's been a little more of a challenge than anything else thus far!

[FLOODED CAVES (REDUX)]
- After some wise words from shark-dragon here...

*** -- I ATTACK HIM!!!

- This guy has VARIOUS detrimental effect immunities! He's designed to be a true test of fortitude-- You should not rely on tricks and debuffs-- Only sheer toughness and power.
- After (carefully) surrounding him with myself and my 3 drakelings, we start to dig in. As usual, "Freezing" is obnoxious-- But little does he realize, he is giving me additional turns every time his icestorm freezes me ("Blazing Body"), heheheh...
- The fight is mostly a test of endurance (which, by NO contest whatsoever, I have all but TOO MUCH of). After about 5 minutes of carefully keeping myself and my Drakelings topped off, he is dealt with, and that is that.

*** Still quite a few more optional areas to go-- But for now, let's keep it short and sweet! Until next time...

Apologies! Ran VERY late with this one! Anyways, here it is:
Fire Drake bubble run update:
*** I'm back. These next few dungeons are places I consider as busywork and not really too hard. However, it must be done! One in particular is going to cause a lot of "questionable" issues, so I'll be examining it closely...

- Orcish Patrols... *Zzzzzz*

[SHADOW CRYPT]
- .. Yes. This is the one. The "boss" here will cause MANY problems-- Programming-wise...

- For some reason, in this zone, EVERY enemy gets immunity to several status effects... A pain, really.

- Mostly trivial. However, there's always been something I've wanted to do with this place, heheheh...

*** (TWO HOURS LATER OF SOME "STUFF"...)

*** Implementation: ??? ??? ???

%%% ... This is not technically a death, but I'm going to consider BEING LOCKED IN ETERNAL, UNENDING BATTLE AS ESSENTIALLY DYING-- That is to say, I gave up and committed suicide... SIGH. I hate how this fight works.

- *takes off all equipment* ... Freakin'...

- ... SHEESH! I hate fighting these doomed shades-- ESPECIALLY on Avatars! It seems like fights always go on indefinitely because of how self-sustaining both sides happen to be. Oh well... It's a good thing I held off on "Draconic Body" until now, heheheh...

*** (8 hours later-- Don't ask why.)

- ... Uh, where was I... Oh, just beat the shade.
- I couldn't find a tome of gems and whatnot-- So it looks like it's time to do the prides!
- The one I consider the easiest is Vor Pride (because only HALF of the enemies can harm me, and the other half makes me stronger/faster). However, in previous experiences, the "boss" here proved to be the most difficult (due to teleporting, stunning, freezing, and general spammy-elusiveness). Let's see how this goes...

[VOR PRIDE - F1]
- For fun, I've decided to equip my "Eternity's Counter". This way, I can give all 3 of my silencing torques to my Drakelings (they can each use "Silence" now). Let's see how "effectively" they make use of these!

- ... Wow. That is the FIRST time I've seen something "correctly" use "Burrow"... (went through a wall and snuck up behind me)

- There's a vault here... Let's check it out.
- Easy vault, simply put. Moving on...

- "Gaping Maw"! Aaaaay!

[VOR PRIDE - F2]
- *yaaaawn*

[VOR PRIDE - F3]
- Okay, the boss is on this level. Might be a thing.

- WHOA!! He was right behind the door at the start! Typical ToME enemy generation...
- No problem. He wasn't nearly as bad as I remembered him. Actually, I think the "hard" one was the Wyrmic, not him, eheheh...

- Naloren Portal. I'ma jump in.
- Hm. That certainly was a portal.
*** Remark: Yet another situation where a Fire Drake's drakelings could get screwed due to water-breathing-- But you still have to opt into this, so...

["ENCOUNTER"]
- This is the first encounter I've elected to run away from. I ran into a rather nasty Shadowblade Orc Assassin who had Stoning Poison, Insidious Poison, and was causing Deep Wounds. He then used "Ambuscate", and at that point I realized: "Oh god. He's going to petrify and shatter my Drakelings". Used all my mobility talents and quickly ran to the exit. Sheesh... That could have actually gone REALLY bad!

[ERUAN]
- My Drakelings are still really messed up from that encounter... We get out of it just fine, though!

- Ugh... Ritches are 100% Fire Resistant... What a pain!

- ... This zone is mostly unremarkable-- After all, it's kind of a "relief" zone for what you're about to do "next"...

- "Storm's Fury"! Ooooo...

- Now then... Time for the single most important part of the whole game.
- Put on as much "Stun" immunity as I can, invest some points, and...

- *poof* Time to go kids. You can't come HERE.

[CHARRED SCAR]
- AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!

- Ouch! Very powerful Archer unique causing me much pain!

- ... Fearscaped. This REALLY isn't the time...

- Made it! That was pretty rough! ... *looks left... looks right... ... Pulls out lifelink* ... Heheheh... Time to call them back.
- *poof!* Hey kids.

- I deal with the enormous amount of adds chasing me!
- ... Then, I deal with the boss! Wow... Getting "Boldly and Fiercely" to TL5 DEFINITELY makes a difference in fire-vs-fire performance!

[GATES OF MORNING]
- Aaaaand, complete!

*** That'll do for now. Nothing to crazy this time around-- But this run HAS caused me to add a new "feature" to the Dark Crypt, heheheh... Next time, guys!

Fire Drake bubble update:
*** Decided to get (most of) the rest of this run out of the way-- Since, at this point, the game is becoming busy-work until the actual "climax" of the game. So, let's do this nice and quick-like (whilst still getting optional things out of the way!)
- That said, let's get right into it!

[GORBAT PRIDE - FLOOR 1]
- Whoops! I was actually trying to get the undead/necromancer one, but got the names mixed up, eheheheh... This one's gonna be filled with dragons-- Which will complete pretty much ALL of my alchemist potions!

- "Isovau uses Stoke the Flames." "Isovau hits Orc grand summoner for 3601 fire damage." "New Achievement: Overpowered!"... OP, indeed.

- A mountain... Just sitting in the middle of the zone...? I think this is only my SECOND time seeing this vault before... I don't remember ANYTHING about it!
- Oh! Interesting... This was a pretty cool encounter!

[GORBAT PRIDE - FLOOR 2]
- WHOAAA!!! Stop mashing those buttons! It's "Ureslak"! This fellow should put up a good fight!
- I get messed up-- BAD! Some quick thinking gets me and my Drakelings out barely though... The fight is on!
- No problem once I recovered! What makes "Ureslak" easier than most multihued dragons is that he only ever has 1 breath available at a time-- And the rest of his talents are silenceable!

- ... Sheesh... Boss encounter of this room is a slight problem. Approached it badly-- My fault.

- Here we go. This is the one boss Fire Drake has always had the most trouble with in the past. Previously, "Nourishment" was a physical effect, but I changed it into an "OTHER" effect, because this boss would use "Purging Flames" too frequently for me to get any healing in. Besides, the only reason "Nourishment" is a "delayed" heal is because I want Fire Drakes to be able to use it to "skillfully" predict and deflect damage they're going to receive (hence the wide variety of map AoEs it has).

[GORBAT PRIDE - FLOOR 3]
- OH! HI THERE! Gorbat, himself, JUST so happened to be standing right in front of me in the first room! What a jerk!

- Doing some stairscumming. Cleared out a few enemies, then quickly ran back to the previous room. Honestly now! You can't put the final-boss into the same room as the mid-boss!!

- Going back into it-- Once against, it's a test of endurance-- And we are no pushovers!
- Down he goes... Is there even any need to explore the rest of the zone...? *sigh* ... Of course there is. Science, and whatnot.

- Ureslak is dead, and I believe there are no other dragon uniques, so I can click around the zone like crazy and clear this place up real fast.

- ... Another mountain vault? Oh boy! Another duel!
- Fun times.

*** Alright! My drakelings (having reached Lv50) ask me about their style change for a final time. I tell them all to stay focused, as usual.
*** Also-- Holy crap! My lifelink is running low [12576/50000]... Ahahahah... Looks like I'll be making that trip back to The Summoner sooner than expected, eheheheh...

*** Whew! I really underestimated how much of a gauntlet these prides can actually be! Even in my attempts to rush through the zone, this place alone took me an hour and so! Uggh... I'll put this run on hold-- But don't worry, you guys won't notice a thing!

*** ... See? What did I tell you guys? Didn't notice anything!

- This time, I'm going to tackle the CORRECT pride-- "Rak'Shor" Pride is the one, I believe! (now that I think about it, I can't believe I didn't notice, considering the "cultist" in the Shadow Crypt is a "Rak'shor" orc...)

[RAKSHOR PRIDE - FLOOR 1]
- Undeads! Weakness to fire! Not much to be said!

- ... OH! A "Threads of Fate"... This is going to be interesting (to describe) hahaha...

[RAKSHOR PRIDE - FLOOR 2]
- ... Is that a Dream Seed I spy...? Why yes... Yes it is! I've heard that this particular entity causes A LOT of glitchy behavior for Avatars (the dream sequence)-- So let's see how THIS goes when I try it on a Fire Drake, heheheh...
- Ouch. Interestingly, I can heal my other projections with dragonfire! Excellent~~

[RAKSHOR PRIDE - FLOOR 3]
- As usual, boss guy wasn't too far from the entrance at all (sheesh... they won't give me a break!)
- Pretty easy. At first, he summoned a few skeletons and was trying to run away from me (a sign that the AI considers you very powerful)-- Then, he foolishly got close to me as soon as I silenced him. Not his wisest decision, I must say! Needless to say-- He was quite dead at that point.

- "Heavy Sentinel" was around the corner-- Another 100% Fire immune boss. However, thanks to TL5 Boldly and Fiercely and his spammy fire usage, this will be a cinch!

- "Void Spectre"? Silenced. GG.

- A "Void Orb", huh...? If I were a Hydra, I would have LOVED to find this artifact!

- Eeeep... Lifelink warning... [10000/50000]

- Big stone vault here. Let's see what's inside...
- The same one from before-- The one I found in Dreadfell. Knowing this ahead of time, I'm more prepared-- Very easy!

- ... If I wear all 3 of my "Perfection" amulets, my Fire Drake Aspect will be at least x1.70... I am STRONGLY considering it.

[GRUSHNAK PRIDE - FLOOR 1]
- This is the land of warriors-- And tanky stunners. I will need to avoid direct confrontations AS MUCH as possible-- Though, "Battle Call" is going to make this VERY difficult, heh...
- In the past, this zone has FREQUENTLY proven dangerous and fatal for my Drakelings. I will see if I can prevent this from happening again.

- Didn't go too bad-- But it's always a little unnerving...

- Getting tired of having like 50+ Inscriptions. Going to eat all the useless ones now (which should bump my HP up by quite a bit!)
- I'm currently at 2041 Life... After eating them, I am... 2091 life now-- Only ate about 30% of them. Once my wild power updates, that should become about 2130-ish.

[GRUSHNAK PRIDE - FLOOR 2]
- "Shieldsmaiden"?? Oh dear... What's THIS doing HERE?!

- Another vault... Fun times!
- Lots of lightning mobs... Nothing fancy!

[GRUSHNAK PRIDE - FLOOR 3]
- Zzzzz....

[GRUSHNAK PRIDE - FLOOR 4]
- Whoa! I got kidnapped by Kra'Tor! This guy is a bit of a beast and I dare not underestimate him!
- He would normally drop me a "Gaping Maw", but I already had one!

[GRUSHNAK PRIDE - FLOOR 5]
- Zzzzz....

[GRUSHNAK PRIDE - FLOOR 6]
- ... Take a guess: "Grushnak" himself is waiting for me RIGHT at the stairsteps. Seriously... These orcs are being VERY rude during this run!
- For fun, I place a drakeling in front of me and simply play "white mage". Grushnak has no chance.

- Time for some quick clean up...
- A "Guardian's Totem"... Oh man, and just when I thought I couldn't get any MORE anti-magic!

- Alright! That's officially ALL 4 prides, so it's time for the end game! Let's quickly clear out the "Slime Tunnels"...

[SLIME TUNNELS]
- The zone is cleared-- Time for the orb bosses...

*** First is the "Dragon", because why not?
- This summons a archmage multihued dragon. Needless to say, me and my crew have no end of ways to deal with mages, so this should be no trouble whatsoever.
- This fight is a bit obnoxious (due to high fire resistance and blinding spells), but not too much trouble at all!

*** Next is the "Undeath". I hate necromancers...
- 70% Silence immunity... Tons of minions who self-revive and HURT A LOT... Yeah. I really hate this guy.
- Thankfully, he dies-- And he DOESN'T come back (unlike his minions).

*** Next is the "Elemental". The "Ninja Tornado" if you will.
- Definitely (beyond any shadow of a doubt) the EASIEST one. Goes down rather casually.

*** Finally, the "Destruction". How bad could this be?
- ... Oh crap. He's a 100% Fire resist boss. THIS could be a problem, heheheh...
- Got him into a routine. It reaches a point where me and my Drakelings are simply bumping him to death. No problem!

- Alright, I am LITERALLY at the door steps of the end game. However, there's FAR too much that needs to be done before I could simply go ahead! Time for some quick backtracking!

- Also-- STILL no sign of "that book"... So I might just have to "hack" one into my inventory for the sake of DOING that side quest, heh...

["Clean Up Time!"]
*** Some end-game preparations to do:
- Finished up all the remaining plot and storyline. You get something good when you do!
- Finish up those Alchemist potions! ... Somehow, I STILL haven't encountered a single ice wyrm-- Which is frustrating.
*** Got "Focus" and "Foundations"-- The "important" potions". IDEALLY, I want "Derth" to win-- But he hasn't really been pulling his weight. I would need to help Agrimley AND Marus WITHOUT Ungrol getting any potions done-- Which I doubt is gonna happen, hahaha...
*** Oh! Derth guy DID get a potion done! Let's see if he does another one when I ask Agrimley...
*** Nope. Quest has ended. Darn! I can never finish this quest with 5 potions!

- Visited the rarities shop and bought myself 3 custom amulets. Named each of them after my Drakelings, hehehe...

- Quick visit to Angolwen! That jewelry shop might have something nice now~~

*** Now, I'm just saying... But I don't consider NPC-slaying as a "necessary" part of game completion, so I WON'T be challenging Linaniil nor Myssil. You can do that yourself and tell me how it goes!

- ... Now, I would LIKE to challenge Atamathon... But I need to get a "Fiery Choker" before I can even CONSIDER doing that. There's a possibility it might be "in that unexplored place", and so...

["PURE INSANITY"]
- ... ROUND TWO, BABY!!

- Same approach-- I'll alarm the denizens-- But THIS time, I'm going to be FAR more patient (I got a bit uneasy before and went TERRIBLY out of position... I won't do that THIS time).
- Use recall rod, wait 200 turns... Whoa... Strange things are happening-- The game log tells me I was damaging an enemy... But I don't know why or how!

- ... Something just died, and I got credit for it. I'm not sure how or why the game thinks I'M dealing fire damage...-- Oh crap... WAIT A MINUTE...
*** Remark: The Lava floors! They must have wandered into the lava floors room-- But a "leak" in my code is making the lava floor considered as MY damage...? But how...?? My "Bloodcaller" is giving me heals from fire damage it THINKS I'm dealing... What on earth... This shouldn't be possible!

- ... Been waiting for over 1000 turns... But I WON'T move this time! I'll be patient...

- 3 Enemies in total have died... I can tell because the "EXP" pop-up has appeared over my Drakelings 3 times now...

- HAH! What hax! I just watched a pile of gold appear on the mini map RIGHT above my location! I have a feeling the enemy AI is "haxing" and is trying to go to my location. Oh well-- They appear to be destroying each other, just as expected!

- "Rested for 154 turns (stop reason: Inspiration!)." ... That must mean one of the wyrms have died (inspiration for defeating a rival dragon).
- More inspiration. They are certainly murdering themselves!
- Another inspiration... There can't be too many more left at this point.

- A glance around the map reveals: 1 drowning, 9 friendly fire incidents, and 7 lava-drinking contests. I guess it's finally safe to peek my head out, huh?
- Found a near-dead wandering hatchling. Hatchlings can't friendly fire, so there's a drake/wyrm hanging around somewhere...
- ... Found it-- 50% dead. I shall avenge these poor souls you murdered out of complete malice and retardation!
- Whoa! Another drake popped up! Better not get surrounded again. *retreats*

%%% "Tales of Maj'Eyal has stopped responding." ... Crap.

*** I guess that's all for today! Tune in next time...

PS: Errrm, no character sheet this time-- For rather OBVIOUS reasons...

*** Some speculations before the next (and possibly LAST) run:
- "Heatstroke's" "influence" on combat is very... "Invisible". I would like to give this talent a new effect... Something that VISIBLY shows its influence as a talent in a tree that is all about SLOWLY wearing down your opponents over a long period of time. That is to say: "Global Speed" is far too easy, and I'll try to think of something else other than this...

- "Torrential Blaze" is obviously too powerful-- I'll need to nerf it, and I know EXACTLY how I will do so! It will have something to do with the number of targets struck, and the "diminishing damage with distance" will be A LOT more noticable; You will need to be POINT BLANK to see the same numbers it had before.

- "Aura of Silence" is honestly broken-- In the sense that 90% of the game's ranged enemies can be trivialized with silence. In fact, it's sort of overkill that it even removes magical sustains and magic effects as well! This spell is honestly absolutely KILLER, and needs a "policy" that reflects the extreme potency of this talent! Perhaps, I will give it back its old repercussion: YOU will be silenced whenever it is used-- And that means NO breath talents for several turns if you can't resist it!

Sorry about this late one! Life and whatnot-- But that's no excuse! I pulled an all-nighter to get you this one, so here you go!
Fire Drake bubble run update:
*** I'm back, and I've got a very late-night one for everyone. Sorry about the delay! Life was happening (for details, it was a close one's unannounced birthday)

["PURE INSANITY" redux]
- Now thankfully, I saved before opening the vault, so not everything was lost. I'm doing the same exact routine-- Etc... Etc... Details are in the previous story!

- Something is STILL taking that fire damage and giving ME credit for it. Have no clue why... I wouldn't mind if someone could confirm that this does/doesn't happen on vanilla ToME so that I can know for certain if my add-on is causing it or not.

- Finally managed to coax an enemy out of hiding. It's a regular Drake (not wyrm).

- Whoa! A "wyrm" managed to survive without a single scratch! I expected this much-- It would only be extremely good luck that would cause all of those to die.
- The fight is going well-- Then two more normal drakes show up. Guess it's best to keep the fight narrow now!
- Deflecting the enormous amounts of damage they deal to my drakelings is no problem thanks to all the front-loaded damage being caused by "Boil In Flames" and "Inferno". As for myself-- Well, I'm a bit of beast-- So there's no need to worry about me!

- Judging by how the game is running, it seems there are very few enemies left!
*** SAVING for good measure...

- Something is taking fire damage... This means they're in the lava room. Time to go find them...
- There's another wyrm, full health too! Let's get it!

- Whoa! Two overpowered wyrms at once?! I'LL DO IT!
- No problem whatsoever! Turns out all it takes is a little courage (and luck with NOT getting CC'd by Flame Shock, heh...)

- Something else is STILL taking damage... There are at least 8 Overpowered Wyrms in this vault, and I've only killed 3. They're hanging around somewhere if they're not already dead...
- False alarm. It's a regular drake. Let's go peek around...

- Examination of the zone reveals nothing. As for the vault itself... ... ...
- 10 targets took damage from Inferno! Oh dear... Now I think I've done it, hahaha...

- After hiding, there's another wyrm. Let's go!
- Another one shows up. I'm getting pretty confident with my overall power now and bravely take them both on!

- "I cleared the room of death and all I got was this lousy achievement" ... Looks like I'm done!
- This also throws me into Lv50! Excellent!
- ... Now then, let's see if the Fiery Choker was lying around in this room-- Or maybe some other really good oddities!

- The room is BIZARRELY empty! I'm used to about 5-6 artifacts lying around in this place, but this time, there's only 3... Darn. The best thing I can find is a "Ring of the Dead"-- But that's not really much use in Exploration mode, is it now? *sigh*

*** For the fun of it, let's take a shot at Atamathon even though I am WITHOUT the Fiery Choker. I expect this to go QUITE nightmarishly, as-- In the past-- Atamathon almost always INSTANTLY kills my Drakelings in mere moments. Let's go!

["ATAMATHON"]
- I'll be honest... I don't really know any kind of "optimal" strategy for beating Atamathon-- All I really know is that having a "Fiery Choker" allows you to withstand its "Molten Skin" sustain. Hopefully, my drakelings' passive affinity will mostly protect them from Atamathon's GROSSLY huge amounts of damage...
- If I had learned "Dragon Army", I could have correctly arranged my Drakelings so that they stayed in a perfect "cross" pattern. However, that's not really possible...
- Spent some of my excess talent points. Decided to dump it ALL into extra survivability for my Drakelings, so I maxed out "Commanding Roar", allowing me to mitigate TONS of damage they might receive from it.
- Maxed out "Hungry Eyes", since my "Mind Critical" rate is extremely high anyways-- I'll be able to do awesome amounts of damage!
*** My "Breath of Fire" crits, causing 1327 nurturing to my Drakelings. Yup! This should do quite fine!
- I decided to invest in "Fire Drake Aspect". With all of these booster amulets, my "Consuming Fire" should be EXTREMELY powerful!
- Here goes nothing. I honestly expect to die-- But how "quickly" I die is my subject of interest!

- I activate my "Threads of Fate"... We shall explore 3 outcomes: one where I don't touch Atamathon... And two where I try to take it on!
- Though Atamathon never hit me, BOTH of the timelines consisted of Atamathon failing to use talents and taking ENORMOUS amounts of fire damage. Interesting... Let's give it an earnest shot then!
*** Now, it SHOULD be noted: I have given "Burrowing Beast" an anti-construct effect as a way to compensate for the fact that "Garkul's Revenge" is impossible to get on Avatars (which seems to be a prodigy designed ENTIRELY for slaying Atamathon). I am BLATANTLY ignoring this, and it's a bad idea. Don't do that, heheheh...

- The fight starts! Atamathon, thankfully, is usually very slow to the uptake, so I have plenty of time to start laying down AoE effects to "frontload" healing and damage.
- Atamathon uses "Irresistible Sun"-- But thankfully, I have "Aura of Silence" to counteract that!
*** Notably, this ALSO breaks its "Reflective Skin", meaning I don't have to worry about ENORMOUS amounts of damage coming back to me!
- Oof! Atamathon hits me once, and I receive 1000 damage. Painful. I answer this by eating a 460 healing regeneration infusion.
- Erected a barrier with "Titanic Roar". Atamathon still smashes it through it and I feel it! Ouch...
- I DESPERATELY need some peels now-- Before realizing Atamathon has NO immunity whatsoever to confusion! Time to get my roars on!
- ... Uh oh, the roars fail-- And ouch! Atamathon sure does hit hard! I'm down to 244/2387... Time for a strategic retreat-- Behind my Drakelings, heh...

%%% Nope. No good. Atamathon simply uses "Rune: Acid Wave" and that is that. What I discovered from this is that "Sovereign's Domain" has done me absolutely NO good here, as my Drakelings remained ENTIRELY unharmed while I got absolutely destroyed. It might have gone better if I allowed them to withstand the assault (since I'm basically the "white mage" in this setup). After all, it's pointless to protect my Drakelings if *I* die in the process, right?

*** Bug: Whoa... My game's textures are freaking out. There's a distinct possibility the graphics memory is being overloaded. Time to restart...
*** That fixes the problem, but now I'm getting a bit concerned about this save file. I better hurry up and finish this run...

*** Now, the "jewelry" quest didn't show up for me in this playthrough-- So there's only one way I can make it show up now: I gotta do some "hax". In hindsight, I could have farmed the orc patrols a bit until it dropped, but that escaped my mind in my hurry to finish the game. Oh well.
- As usual, I will "explore" this quest, but I will not save it. This is simply to evaluate any possible "issues" or problems involved with it. Off we go.
*** (Haxes a book of jewelry into existance and proceeds with the quest!)

[HIDDEN VALLEY]
- Talent Level 9.2 "Consuming Fire" moreorless allows me to mash-click my way through this zone. I'm being healed... My drakelings are being healed... My enemies are dying. There is literally no longer any more of my own input required other than clicking fiercely.
- At times like this, I kinda wish I had that one guy's add-on that makes my player character automatically navigate and clear dungeons without my own input (until I reach 50% life). No... What are you talking about? This is TOTALLY not a shameless plug for another excellent add-on!

[VALLEY OF THE MOON]
- Here we go. Because of the "nature" of my character and my helpers, I'd be better off staying FAR away from the guy, heh...

- I start and position myself so that my flames won't reach him.
- ... Wow... All these huge AoE fire carpets are really pretty-looking... And deadly. Nothing has gotten anywhere near me.

- ... Trivial. Fire Drake has no issues dealing with this place, it seems!

*** With this confirmed, I reload-- And none of this ever happened.

*** Alright, let's call it there. There is LITERALLY nothing else that needs to be done in this game anymore except the "finale"-- So that's certainly in the next update. Next time guys!

Here we go-- The final run. Enjoy!
Fire Drake Bubble Run (FINALE):
*** Alright, no fancy words. Let's do this already... It's almost done!

[HIGH PEAK - FLOOR 1]
- Most things can't deal with my enormous "fire power", heh...

- Boss is "Wyrmic Archmage" dwarf... Strange combo, but okay.
- Pretty trivial boss-- Just most teleportation shenanigans.

- Trivial floor too!

[HIGH PEAK - FLOOR 2]
- The boss is not too far from the door! It's a "Necromancer Corruptor" Daelach. Wow... That's actually a pretty good combination-- And it has over 6000HP!
- Not too hard at all. Once again, the enormous amount of fire damage and AoEs I lay down are just too much for the necromancer and his minions-- This, and I kept on silencing him, heheheh...

- Floor clean-up because "science"-- Though, normally, a Lv50 character like me who is in somewhat of a rush wouldn't normally bother with doing this.

- Oh god-- An orc mage just teleported me away... OH GOD! Luminous Horr-- Oh, they're already dead. Ah-hahahaha!

- ... It certainly says something when your Fire Drake lays down 4 AoEs on top of a pack of Fire Wyrms, Drakes, and Hatchlings, and they all (quite casually) burn up in the flames. OPPPPP!

- "Huuloc performs a melee critical strike!" "Huuloc hits for 169 physical damage." ... Excellent, it looks like "Dragon" Natural Combat scales quite decently into the late game-- ESPECIALLY on Drakelings (consider they used to bite for only 11 damage before)!

[HIGH PEAK - FLOOR 3]
- "Forge Giant" right at the entrance. Real cute, game...
- Oh? It's running away from me! WELL THEN...

- Man... "Reverence" is hilariously effective at dealing with all these orc mages-- It causes them to shut up and behave themselves as soon as they see me-- Then they just get silenced.

- Oops. Apparantly, I found the boss and accidentally killed him without even realizing what he was. He was an "Orc summoner" with Archer/Corruptor... *shrug*

- No Isovau. The Sandworm's Lair wasn't nearly as dangerous as I thought it was. :)

[HIGH PEAK - FLOOR 4]
- Right at the door, "Archer Wyrmic Thalore". He was pretty cool (except that he couldn't use HALF of his class abilities...)

- It occurred to me how useful it is to have SEVERAL useless talents... It makes the cooldown-block of being stunned a little less dangerous!

[HIGH PEAK - FLOOR 5]
- "Levels" in Tales of Maj'Eyal tend to have a very "additive" influence on the character and its stats/performance. As such, being a Lv50 in a maze full of Lv60+ enemies really does mean very little-- Everything gets thrashed with equal and no less brutality.

- ... So many Fire Wyrms... *melts them into a fine paste*

- *swings fist* wooooo... an ice wyrm... finally.

- Something caused an intense slow down... When we unfroze, Drenng was "Removed From Time"... I wonder if this is "expensive" to the processor when used on Drakelings...?
- There's our culprit! A (oh god) "Heavy Bone Giant Paradox Mage Marauder". This is gonna take a while to kill...

- ... Hilariously enough, the giant teleports me RIGHT next to the staircase... Again, if I weren't in such a "scientific" setting, I would have simply taken the steps and left this mass of bones feeling quite silly. However, science and all... Gotta defeat it.

[HIGH PEAK - FLOOR 6]
- Getting bored, I ended up taking a bad turn... I'm between a Demonologist unique and the stairs-boss (who is a Arcane Blade, Sun Paladin Halfling). Notably, he hit me once and I took 1147 damage... OUCH!
- Some defensive manuevering gets me out of trouble. Now the halfling is coming towards me, and one hit does half of Drenng's life... Geez! Just who IS this guy??
- Either way, he was not built to withstand a 2627 damage "Torrential Blaze" straight to the face, so that's quite enough of that.

- I'm mostly playing around with enemies at this point. Of course, "Roguelikes" are at their deadliest when a player gets complacent... However, the game has yet to threaten me, so... Here's another saying: "Catch me, if you can!"

- The game, indeed, takes my insult quite seriously! I immediately encounter an "Archmage Urh'Rok Champion" on the other side of the door, and he IMMEDIATELY teleports me to the other side of a wall, leaving only my Drakelings with him... Oh boy.
- Thankfully, the improved pathfinding of my Drakelings and the "speed bonus" of "Parental Bond" gets them over to me swiftly... OR DOES IT??
- "Drenng" gets frozen and caught out. His life quickly drops down to the 25% range... However, mysteriously, the AI forgets all about him and starts searching for me... Gee, I wonder why that happened? Heheheh...
*** Remark: ... Before anyone asks, this is intentional design to "protect" Drakelings from this rather unfair situation!

[HIGH PEAK - FLOOR 7]
- A lot of stuff dies before I even see it, since I tend to absolutely FLOOD the corridors with enormous damage-over-time effects. Science or not, there's no time to think about what could have been-- Just what needs to be done.

- A vault in High Peak? OF COURSE!

- Boss is "Cursed Corruptor Shalore". Hm.
- Silenced and GG.

- Vault time.
- That was easy.
*** ToME Bug: Also-- An "Ice Wyrm" was placed into a small room. The escorts tried to explode out-- But there were "issues", heh...

[HIGH PEAK - FLOOR 8]
- ... Still pretty dull so far... Been doing this for an hour now.

- ... Wow. This was an interesting layout-- The "exit" was inside a room filled with various elemental wyrms... I've never seen something like this before! Is the game taking its kiddie gloves off now?
- ... No. It was still a pretty trivial room (stepped out of line of sight and just set the room on fire).
*** ToME Bug: Somehow though, I think they OVERWROTE the stairs boss, because it's nowhere in sight! Oh well. Take that!

[HIGH PEAK - FLOOR 9]
- I'm getting REALLY close to the climax now!

- Boss is "Corruptor Archer Dwarf".
- No problem.

- A vault... Let's see what's going on!
- It's full of demons and lava floor-- Two things Fire Drake has NO trouble with at all!
*** Bug: Ugggh... So, HERE'S a big problem: I would LOVE to dig this wall out-- But my Drakelings are taking it upon themself to roll around in the lava floor-- Which is constantly interrupting my digging process. It's hard to say how I could "fix" something like this, since giving an alert when Drakelings are damaged is EXTREMELY important for the player...

- Random note: Finally remembered to get "Draconic Body"! Now I can take as many hits as necessary!

- ... I stare upon this Tier 5 "Spellhunt Remnants" I just found in the vault... It appears to do essentially what "Aura of Silence" does, but on a single target. However, it's a hand-equipment that ANY (humanoid) character can use-- And thus, is accessible by EVERYBODY. Perhaps I am overestimating "Aura of Silence" after all if something like this ALREADY exists...

[HIGH PEAK - FLOOR 10]
- The final floor! Let's go!!

- "Chromatic Harness"? Oooo...

- Welp... Here's the final encounter portal. Some preparations before I enter:
- Ate ALL my useless infusions. This'll give me a good "Life" boost (as well as making my Draconic Body a little more potent)
- FINALLY "consumed" my "Blood of Life". This will DOUBLE ensure that I cannot be destroyed so easily!
*** Typo: Typo. English is hard (I guess)
- Ate my "Sandworm Heart". It has "another" purpose-- But it seems I never needed it after all!
- Made sure me and all my Drakelings are holding a "Bloodstone" (+60% Stun immunity)
- Gave all my Drakelings my best artifacts (particularly, my REALLY GOOD lanterns)
- Dropped all their excess gear (just in case they get hit by something that reduces encumbrance like "Decreptitude Diseases" or "Illness")
- Made sure my "Endless Desire" is off cooldown. (I have it set to auto-use, so it isn't always ready)
- Put on ANOTHER Bloodstone for good measure... (*paranoia*)
- Popped out some "Spiders" for the heck of it.
- And most importantly: RESTART my game! I'll be sad if the game crashes at some point during the fight!

- Here we go. It's time to head into the FINAL encounter!

[THE SANCTUM]
- Frankly, I don't have an approach for this final bit of the game. However, there is ONE thing I know for certain: Due to the "nature" of my character, I don't think me and "my helper" are going to be very "compatible" in this fight. As such, it might just be best if I use her as a scapegoat to deal with some of these portals.
- For fun, I experiment with 3 different outcomes by using "Threads of Fate"...
(OUTCOME 1)
- Using every mobility talent I've got, I hurl myself towards each portal-- But it's not exactly easy. Though my Drakelings absorb some hits, <X> has no intentions of letting me do this so breezily. I occasionally have to stop and turn around to heal them.
(OUTCOME 2)
- With NO mercy whatsoever, I lay into the mages, disregarding any and all danger I may be putting my "helper" in!!
(OUTCOME 3)
- I focus on disabling the mages with silences and such--
%%% GAME CRASHES-- Hrrrm... Let's just focus on one timeline then, huh...? Don't worry, I saved before going into the room this time.

[THE SANCTUM (redux)]
- AHEM!!! So then-- I start the fight by LAYING into the mages! I've decided "my helper" is not a good enough reason for me to hold back, and it will simply lead to MORE pain if I don't give it my all! Also, if anything else "wanders" into me, it will simply be melted and be no issue anyways. That is to say: BRING IT ON!!
- Looking back at the fight, Huuloc has taken some serious damage (but is not anti-death yet). It's time to set the world on fire...
- Starting to feel bad about all the damage "my helper" is receiving. I reposition myself so that they aren't taking as much damage from my sprays.
- Ouch! My Equilibrium REALLY isn't liking all this spam!
- My "helper" definitely isn't enjoying this-- But again: I can't hold back on their account... I must press the attack!
- Alas, she falls... And now, the "true" ending is gone. However, this is science... I mustn't be craven-- I only need DATA and NUMBERS!! With her gone, I can fight with zero relent and 100% fervor!

- My fury is boundless-- The tower burns, and so too does all within it. "One of them" falls, and now there is only one left.
- Having acquired the "ToME Trivializer", I can awaken my true power-- I remove my two bloodstones and replace it with Fire DMG%+ objects!!!

- 1035 damage Fiery Breath! Who cares about your ALL resistance?!
- Enemies approaching from all directions? NO CHANCE!! They burn up in my vengeful flames!
- Blinded? It doesn't matter. I don't choose who dies-- THE FLAMES DO!!!

- And then, the very most awful thing possible happens: The boss... Gets silenced.

*** Final Evaluation: Trivial. The final boss fight of the game was trivial. *sigh* ... Fire Drake is too strong.

*** GG folks! Looks like that's that. What this run has moreorless proven... Is quite a few things-- But I'm MOSTLY proud that it was beaten WITHOUT a single Drakeling fatality, nor an "actual" state of weakness! This could mean Drakelings are too tough... Or not. I won't speculate too much here.

*** Whew! Now that this is done, I've got somewhere to run too-- I'll be reading back through all my stories and collecting all my bug reports. Meanwhile, leave any comments/remarks you might have about the run. Do you think there's something I didn't test correctly? Did something seem off? Come, let's discuss this! That's the whole point of showcasing this run, after all!

*** Slight spoiler warning: The Character Sheet contains modified ending text, which might give away plot. Use discretion when reading this!
*** Bug: "Huuloc shrugs off the critical damage!" ... But wait... I was healing him...!

*** My closing thoughts:
- Most of my buffs and tweaks to Fire Drake started to make sense around the end game (ESPECIALLY in High Peak, where uniques and such actually gave me a run for my money).

- Despite how powerful my Drakelings seemed throughout the game, they MAJORLY tapered off in the end game, and it was actually *I* who had the enormous spike in power!! Around the end, they only really served to chump block hits and such.

- "Heatstroke" is an extremely powerful tree! Just as I had hoped, it is EXCELLENT for sustaining your Drakelings without too much maintenance!

- "Aura of Silence" is ultra powerful-- But all it needs is a "caveat" to offset its power a bit. Like I said, I like the idea of having it silence yourself as well.

- Drakelings feel quite nice at the moment-- Though, I don't like how much life they ended up having by the end of the game. It might need a bit of shaving-- But I'll let everyone play around with this a bit before I go ahead with the change.

- ... Can't think of anything else at the moment. I'll get back to you!

Oh god... I think I know EXACTLY what this glitch is... It happened to me before, and I wasn't sure what exactly was causing it.
You see, when you win the game, it puts your character into a "winning characters" list, right? I'm thinking maybe the list is having trouble loading the character if the add-on isn't on!
For example, imagine if you won "Arena Mode" with an add-on character. If you removed the add-on and beat Arena mode again, there's no way you could fight the add-on character because it wouldn't know how to load all of its important values and talents...

*** (Tried creating a character with "OoTS" off) ... No... It seems like everything is fine-- But this is extremely concerning. Can you tell me anything about the error? Any issues? If it's not saying anything, try getting the "te4_log.txt" file in the Tales of Maj'Eyal program directory. I was DEADLY scared when this happened to me, and the only way I could fix it was by renaming my save file directory [<computerAccountName>/T-Engine/4.0/tome/save] (and thus, preventing the game from knowing about my "Odyssey of The Summoner" characters).

I'm really sorry about this-- But I've never been able to make it happen again, so I wasn't sure how to do anything about it.
