Warmer .... Colder - it is very hard to guess what their reaction will be from many of the dialogues. Again, the lack of clarity just adds to player frustration.
I am trying in every dialogue to get them warmer to me, but half the time I misguess...

Okay, jenx. Three times now, I was in the middle of writing responses to your posts-- But you are clearly still giving your thoughts-- Yet in "segmented" form, so I think I'll just go to bed and read everything you have to say in the morning... Good night.
PS: I've already told you NOT to post reports like this. Put ALL of your thoughts into ONE post-- DO NOT flood the thread with 5-6 short messages. Please gather ALL your thoughts, THEN post. Honestly now...

hmmm - when my drakelings learn Fire Claw or Pyro Wheel, it says they have radius 0 for the talent, when it should be 4 or so. I'm not sure if the radius really is zero, and it is just described incorrectly, or if it is in fact zero. Either way, needs fixing.

after you leave sandworm, if your drakelings have been kept safe, and then you attack adventurers on world map, you have no drakelings.
it's not obvious that you have to return to the summoner to retrieve them, and there are often adventurer parties near sandworm...

Re: "Odyssey of The Summoner" is OUT!! Find it here...
I entered a new level and there was a 1 wide path in front of me, filled with npcs. So there was no room to spawn my drakelnigs. Rather than appear around the corner, they were placed far away across the map and I couldn't save them from being killed.
this means they have dropped their valuable gear somewhere, which might be hard to find, and they died without me having any chance to save them.
this is a serious issue. please change it so they spawn as close as possible to you on the map.

... Actually, to be honest, it wouldn't be so upsetting if all the posts weren't mostly false reports and whining. I'm sorry jenx, but reports like:
... Anyways, let's talk business: First of all, there IS a warning for when Drakelings are suffocating due to lack of air. However, if the case is that no such message appeared, or that you are requesting that Drakelings be equipped with the items immediately, then fair enough. However:

Welp... This has been 7 misses and 2 "half" hits so far-- All scattered into 8 different posts. Wonderful.

PS: Get used to "essay-writing"-- Both for personal convenience and professional image... There's a reason we're taught how to in school, after all. No. You have SPECIFICALLY been asked by the thread-maker NOT to post in this manner. It's terribly disorganized and makes it harder for me to gather information. "Idealists" does exactly what it says it does. However, it's "Role Model" that needs clarification. Someone has already said something about this and its being dealt with. This is a DUPLICATE report.ok, to give my little drakelings the best chance, I have maxxed the tree Dragon Brood, currently 5/5/5/3. Idealists says says drakelings "will always inherit talents from you at level 5".
First, this is ambiguous - does this mean
1. whatever talents they learn, they learn at talent level 5? If so, it is broken, because they learn talents at random levels.
2. Or does it mean, whenever you learn a talent to level 5 (meaning 4/5 I presume), they learn the same talent, but at a random level? If so, it is also broken, because I have learned several talents to level 5 and none of my 3 drakelings know any of these talents. They have learned other talents I have at a low level.
Happens sometimes... Haven't identified exactly why, though. I believe the reason for this happening might be a strange interaction with having the sufficient EXP to level, but having your level requirements "reduced" at the same time. I'll need to play with this a bit more-- Or see if other people consistently experience the same problem when they learn the talent.Second, Parental Bond says they learn +2 of my level, yet none of them ever gets higher than my level, so this seems broken, as I've kept them alive for a good while.
You have misread the talent description. This is a FALSE report.Third, why should I invest in Observation and Anti-death in Parental Bond, as my drakelings all have these talents straight off? There is no explanation of the benefit levels 4 and 5 of this talent offer.
This is not really a report-- But you at least brought something to my attention. I really hope being able to invoke 3 tentacles at the same time doesn't end up being too strong or anything...OMG !!!!!!!!!!!

I understand your frustration nekarcos, but would you like to hear someone talking to you like this? Especially when you THINK you're helping? Re: "Odyssey of The Summoner" is OUT!! Find it here...
*** A "PSA" about this thread:
If everybody reported the SAME way jenx does... The thread would be an absolute mess, and I wouldn't even bother to figure it out. I am the ONLY person who has to read through everything-- No one else has to. For that reason, I ask that everyone make their reports in a proper, organized fashion that is most readable for me... I don't think I'm asking for the world here.
*** About play-testing "Odyssey of The Summoner":
I'm not "begging" for testers. You are all "volunteers"-- I never elected any of you; I never "hired" any of you... I honestly don't even KNOW any of you! Now, when reporting... I'm not asking for praise-- And definitely NOT saying "don't criticize me"... I just want "reasonable", no-nonsense reporting. I don't need crazy theatrics-- I just want explanations and such. If you're having frustrations-- Sure! Go ahead! Voice them! ... But I don't want to see any posts like "@#$@#%@#%@#$#@ $BLAAAHAAH #$@#$"-- Because anyone who makes posts like this and actually CLICKS the "submit" button really needs to be put on a burning stake.
@Toles of Maine Exits
Don't make the foolish assumption that EVERYONE has the inherent qualities of a video game tester. Most of the world thinks "Video Game Play Testing" is the easiest job in the world-- Terribly underestimating what this role actually requires-- Of utmost, it requires a very specific kind of person... One with a lot of patience (for corrections), understanding (of the intended design)-- And most importantly: Discipline (for seeing through the finished product).
I'm not going to individually judge people-- Nor am I going to say who has what qualities. When you're asking the internet in general to test for you, beggars can't be choosers, right? However, what I WILL say is that my play testers need these qualities if they want to collaborate with me in the best way possible. If you are one who takes to frustration/anger very quickly, you ARE NOT suited for a play-testing role, and probably shouldn't volunteer.
Addition: ... Wait... I just finished saying I wasn't begging for people... *scratches head*
... Anyways, here you go. I spent another day doing some PERSONAL Fire Drake play-testing for your amusement, evaluation, and study... Enjoy!

Update on Fire Drake bubble run:
PS: I won't be updating "OoTS" until after I complete this run. That last update was because it was practically already done and I didn't want to keep people waiting. Don't worry, this run won't be much longer. After dealing with the west, the game becomes VERY fluid and fast (since most of your "power" is already established at this point)-- So I won't take very long!*** Here we go. There's only really one thing left to do: That's Dreadfell, baby! Let's see how well most of my "training" has measured up for this mid-game test of skill...
*** BUG: It's strange how the player starts... Slightly above and to the right of the "Summoner's Graveyard" entrance... Need to fix that.
*** Clarification: Something that ISN'T mentioned (and I probably should), but "Keeping current style" for Drakelings actually improves its proficiency by x0.05... Just so you know!
[FLOOR 1]
- I encounter an escort. Man-- Why does there have to be escorts in Dreadfell?! ... Oh, wait a minute... *I* did that. *grins*
- God dammit Filio!! This is REALLY not the time!!
- ... Welp. The escort's death was basically impossible to avoid due to level generation. Lovely. (though, at the end of the day, one of my Drakelings ended up killing him, convinced that healing me, 2 drakelings, and damaging 3 enemies was a good trade for KILLING THE ESCORT)
- Ooooh! A sealed vault! I like to enter these AFTER I've completed Dreadfell (on the way back down from the top floor), so let's leave that be!
[FLOOR 2]
- "Inertial Twine"? Mmmm... I'd love to wear this, but I actually REALLY like using "Backdraft" to blast myself backward/forward, heheheh...
- ... Very unremarkable floor.
[FLOOR 3]
- Unremarkable again.
[FLOOR 4]
- Escort again... Oh boy.
- Luckily, the portal was only a few inches away. Man... What a contrast! You never realize how silly the level generation is in this game until you actually WRITE about it, hahaha...
- UH-OH... The bane of Fire Drake existance: LUMINOUS HORRORS!! OHHHHHH boy...
- ... So, after about 20 minutes of trying to kill them BEFORE the Drakelings did something dumb (like heal them with fire), I've concluded this matter needs to be resolved ONCE and FOR ALL. It's time to do a quick patch-- This behavior is simply NOT acceptable.
*** IMPLEMENTATION: Drakelings will no longer use ANY talents whatsoever when targetting something with Fire Affinity.
*** BUG: Also-- Found some remnant debugging code... Whoops!
*** Save and quit. Let's try this again.
- This works like a charm! Now that the Drakelings are behaving themselves, it actually becomes possible to take them down in quick fashion.
[FLOOR 5]
- Escort again.
- Well, that was cool. Another awful starting point... Escort died somewhat immediately.
- Uneventful floor.
[FLOOR 6]
*** ToME Bug: Why is it that you can swap places with friendly actors, even when you're pinned/dazed? I suppose we just assume the actor you're swapping with is moving where you used to be... But even so...
[FLOOR 7]
- Found a vault. I'll be coming back to this later...
[FLOOR 8]
- Hrrrm... What floor was "The Master" on again...?
[FLOOR 9]
- Whoop! Found "The Master" hiding behind a corner, almost as though he were trying to get the drop on me!
- In any case-- I immediately charge him. Using my mobility from "Mighty Wings", I manage to surround him so that he can't AoE my Drakelings, nor can he run away. Finally, I silence him, and that drives the nail through his cof--
- BUT WAIT, of course. He comes back to life. Round 2! He immediately teleports away. However, same deal: He gets dragged back towards me by "Consuming Fire", and there really isn't much else he can do. He attempts to summon ghouls and skeletons, but they are honestly too weak to even threaten my Drakelings-- WHICH IS CONCERNING. The more I play through this... The more I realize I have SERIOUSLY over-buffed Drakelings, and I don't understand what the trouble everyone has even been having was...
- "The Master" dies, and that is that. What a disappointment! Urkis was more trouble than this wash-up was...
- Oh sweet... He dropped a "x0.25 Lumbering Beast mastery" amulet! I was trying to avoid this tree because of how potent I already know it is... But really now, how can I say no?! Oh, right... Because I'm only TL1 in Growing Bones, heheheh...
- Did some clean up... Now then, let's take a look at those vaults. I SHOULD note that these zones are absolutely UNBALANCED-- So my experiences here really shouldn't mean anything. What I'm MAINLY interested in knowing is how badly it goes for me. If it's too easy, that means I'm a bit over-tuned and need some nerfing. Otherwise, all good!
[FLOOR 7 ~ VAULT]
- SPIDER VAULT!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!
- But seriously though-- All is going well-- Until two chronomancer spiders teleport me into the middle of the room. HUM. THINGS JUST GOT INTERESTING.
- (Various anti-surrounding AoE later), The spiders are dealt with-- No problem whatsoever. Spider vaults have never been the hard ones anyways, to be honest.
[FLOOR 2 ?!?!]
- Suddenly-- A Warrior escort shows up! Hum. I guess you were hiding?
*** Remark: This happens when the starting spot is too blocked up by enemies/allies for the escort to spawn within vision. It's a good thing, in all honesty-- But really, it's an example of a "solution" that ended up being QUITE abuseable...
[FLOOR 1 ~ VAULT]
- Now, just by looking at the size and shape of this vault, I can already tell this is one of the hard ones... Here's hoping it goes well!
- Poison trap at the door. This already sucks, hahaha...
- Enemies are pouring in, but I can't turn tail-- Or else my Drakelings will get left behind. Luckily, the poison trap isn't only hurting us, but the enemies trickling in as well.
- With some clever usage of "Consuming Fire", I manage to shove my Drakelings away from the entrance and we are now standing at a safe spot. Now, we are able to defeat them slowly, but surely.
- Messy... But not too difficulty. Now I really AM getting concerned about how powerful Fire Drake really is. Frankly, Drakelings feel FAR too durable-- And thus, I can frequently rely on them to tank-- WHICH SHOULD NOT BE THE CASE! "Drakelings" are supposed to be flimsy helpers-- And if you decide to make them take hits, they will go down FAST. At current, however, I have a total of 1300HP... And my Drakelings have 1200-1400 as well. THIS CANNOT FLY-- Absolutely GUARANTEED nerf in the future...
*** Alright, that'll do. This is officially the first half of the game dealt with VERY handily-- No issues whatsoever (besides Urkis)! I'll be moving on to the east... Next time.

I suspect a lot of the trouble is more from most people not having drakeling optimization figured out rather than from any weakness in the class itself... but I can't really say for sure, given that I haven't tried the Fire Drake that much as of yet.
EDIT: I'd forgotten about how many fixes you've made to the drakelings. It'll be interesting to see if there are less complaints after the next patch.

I'm not making any "foolish assumption" about anyone, and I'd appreciate it if you didn't do that. That was a side note about the tester thing at best, I even made a bad joke about him "thinking" he's helping. My main point was that you don't need to belittle people to get your point across. It only ends up pissing off both parties involved, and also new readers could get scared away from even attempting a bug post if they see that so much in this thread.nekarcos wrote:@Toles of Maine Exits
I in no way mean for this to be misconstrued, I truly respect the scale of what you're doing.
