Modifying item vault

#1 Post by nday »

Hi folks,

I'd like to remove some of the item vault restrictions. I'm wondering if you have any thoughts as to how easy it would be to:

1) put a copy of the item vault in an early town

2) remove the level requirements added to items

and as a bonus...

3) modify item vault so that you remove a duplicate of the item, with the option to permanently delete it from your list.

Thanks!

I gotta say that's a cheesy and cheaty way of making the game considerably easier. If such add-on would be created I'd hope it wouldn't make validated save games.

I know the feeling of immortality when you get awesome items from the vault and I rather like it, I admit. Still, even with the vanilla rules for the vault it feels so very cheaty.

It's a good thing the character database shows which chars have used the vault. Personally I'd like to be able to rule out the item vault users from the character list.

So much for that moral sermon and back to the actual topic. I believe such a thing could be possible, at least the vault access at birth should be. Dunno bout the other stuff. Someone else can probably answer that.
Stronk is a potent combatant with a terrifying appearance.

^ This.

Also no, that would be game-breaking. The vault is where it is for a reason. If your character is too weak to make it to the vault, then try leveling it up first. Level requirements are there for a good reason. No one wants to see a level 15 with op gear in the top 10. And for the bonus, no, you can't just magically duplicate an item. You get what you put into it, just like every other game.

Sorry to burst your bubble. I have yet to beat the game and I wouldn't use an addon like that to cheapen the ultimate feeling of getting bent over by some RNG rare waiting around the corner to one hit kill me for over 500 HP in one hit.

This is more of a method for blowing past the first few areas than it is for twinking your entire playthrough. I'm sure I'm not the only one who can get even a yeek out into the world without dying at this point, I just don't necessarily want to do it yet again.

I actually think that being able to select an "heirloom" item or two at birth would be a lot less cheesy than having a locker full of radioactive death waiting for your endgame.

Hmm... implementing a WoW-like heirloom system might be more enjoyable, less cheesy, and serve a lot of the same purposes. Find unlocks as you explore, select them at birth, have them become kind of crappy around level 20...
